摘要： The present invention is directed toward a method for setting a driving voltage of a differential quadrature phase-shift modulator, this method making signal quality superior in response to an individual difference in extinction ratio due to variations in manufacture of a device. 摘要： An optical sender is disclosed that operates in a Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying modulation scheme for high speed optical transmission and is capable of performing logical calculations at a low speed. The optical sender transmits a Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DQPSK) signal generated with modulation signals ρk and ηk so that a signal directly output from a signal receiver corresponding to the optical sender is in agreement with data signals Ik and Qk to be transmitted. The signal receiver is capable of modulation by DQPSK, and the modulation signals ρk and ηk are precoded by using the data signals Ik and Qk and the modulation signals one symbol earlier (ρk−1 and ηk−1) . The optical sender includes plural precoders that perform logical calculation simultaneously and in parallel on plural data signals one period after another period.

A diffraction grating transforms the optical signal into its spectral components. A transmitting apparatus includes an array of coherent laser emitters driven by electronic signals corresponding to a plurality of modulation frequencies to produce optical signals corresponding to a plurality of spectral components. A diffraction grating inverse transforms the spectral components into a composite optical signal. A photo-detector converts the composite optical signal into a composite electronic signal including the plurality of modulation frequencies. An amplifier amplifies the composite electronic signal for transmission as a broadband radio signal.

摘要： A system for providing underwater communication using orbital angular momentum (OAM) includes a transmitter that processes input data to be transmitted using pre-coding information based on current transmission channel conditions to maximize data rate based on channel conditions. A receiver receives a transmitted multiplexed OAM optical signal and analyzes the received signal for channel state information. The channel state information is used to determine a set of pre-coding values that allow the transmitter to pre-code the input data to maximize the data rate based on current channel conditions. The pre-coding values are mapped to a codebook entry which identifies the pre-coding values. The codebook entry is transmitted from the receiver to the transmitter. The transmitter uses the received codebook entry to identify pre-coding values used to process subsequent input data to be transmitted in order to enhance data rate across the transmit channel.

摘要： It is disclosed an optical coherent receiver for an optical communication network. The optical coherent receiver is configured to receive a modulated optical signal and to process it for generating an in-phase component and a quadrature component. The optical coherent receiver comprises a power adjuster in turn comprising a multiplying unit and a retroactively connected digital circuit. The multiplying unit is configured to multiply the in-phase and quadrature components by in-phase and quadrature gains, respectively, thereby providing power-adjusted in-phase and quadrature components. The digital circuit is configured to compute: a common gain indicative of a sum of the powers of the power-adjusted in-phase and quadrature components; a differential gain indicative of a difference between the powers of the power-adjusted in-phase and quadrature components; and the in-phase and quadrature gains as a product and a ratio, respectively, between the common gain and the differential gain.
