    • A light fixture (10) is provided having a wall housing (11) and lighting arms (12). The light fixture includes a heating source (17) mounted within the wall housing. The wall housing includes an external wall (19) adapted to be mounted to a vertical wall of a structure. The external wall has a top (19a), bottom (19b), two oppositely disposed sides (19c), and a front face (19d). The housing top has an air intake opening (20). The housing bottom has an air exhaust outlet (21) which directs air in a downwardly direction. The wall housing also includes an air channel (23) which commences at air intake opening and ends at air exhaust outlet. The heat source includes a heating element (25) mounted within the airflow channel and a motorized fan (26) to create an air flow through the channel which exits through the air exhaust outlet.

    • Some embodiments of the present invention provide a combination lighting and ventilating apparatus for installation in a structure. The apparatus can include a main housing having a first aperture that defines a ventilating inlet and a lighting outlet, a lamp housing recessed within the main housing, having first and second apertures spaced a distance from one another, and having a portion that extends outside of the main housing, and a lamp recessed within the lamp housing and the main housing. In some embodiments, the apparatus further includes a fan positioned to draw air into and through the first aperture of the lamp housing, around the lamp, and through the second aperture of the lamp housing. In another aspect of the invention, a method of lighting and ventilating a room using a combination lighting and ventilating apparatus is provided.

    • An apparatus for cooling a light source within a building or vehicle having an air conditioning system includes a housing for surrounding the light source and structure for delivering a stream of cooled air into the housing from the air conditioning system. The structure for delivering a stream of cooled air is preferably a conduit connected to the air conditioning system. The portion of the air conditioning system to which the conduit is connected is preferably an air carrying duct. Where the light source is a light fixture on a ceiling, the housing is essentially frustrum shaped and attached to the ceiling around the light fixture, and has a translucent lens extending over its bottom surface. The housing has an open base and there are three spaced apart lenses at the open base for retaining heated air within the housing, at least one lens being perforated to permit air to enter and exit the housing, the conduits delivering the stream of cooled air between the lenses to absorb and carry away heat. A height adjusting mechanism is preferably provided to adjust the distance between the lens and the open base of the housing. The height adjusting mechanism includes a threaded rod, one end of which is rotatably fit into a threaded bore in the housing and the other end is attached to a knob, such that rotating the knob changes the above-mentioned distance.
