    • A lighting system comprising a reflector and an arc lamp designed for illuminating a wide area with an even light distribution. The reflector has a cap that is generally parabolic in shape except perhaps at its top where it supports an arc lamp. The arc lamp is preferably a high intensity sodium or mercury vapor lamp with a vertical arc tube mounted so that the lowermost part of the arc tube is positioned to be even with the lowermost edge of the cap. The glass bulb housing the arc tube may extend below the lowermost edge. In an alternative embodiment, the lowermost edge of the cap has an extended portion and a short portion. In this embodiment, the lowermost part of the arc tube is even with the short portion.

    • A neon tube lighting system, support apparatus and extrusion therefor is described for use in overcoming the problems associated with prior art free-standing neon tube lighting systems. The support assembly preferably comprises an extrusion, a reflector and an elongate lens member. The extrusion has first and second wall members located in substantially parallel aligned relation, and a bottom wall member interconnecting the first and second wall members and including a support, wherein the wall members form an enclosure having an opening therein between the first and second side wall members. Each of said first and second wall members of the extrusion includes an angular member extending into the enclosure towards the bottom wall member to form a bearing surface. The reflector has first and second angular wall members and a bottom wall member interconnecting the first and second angular wall members. According to the invention, each of the first and second angular wall members includes an edge cooperating with the respective bearing surface of the angular member when the reflector is secured to the support means to secure the reflector means in the enclosure. The elongate lens member is preferably V-shaped and is retained by the first and second wall members of the extrusion to close the openings. This construction insures that the neon tubing supporting in the enclosure is secure from weathering and other physical damage.

    • A lighting fixture emits a beam covering in excess of 180.degree. by employing a reflector of parabolic cross-section and placing a linear light source perpendicular to the parabolic axis at or slightly forward of the parabola ends. A mounting plate containing the lamp socket and lamp ballast is connected to the reflector by means of a single screw to facilitate installation and maintenance. End members for the reflector include projecting collars which rotatably receive annular flanges from junction boxes through which power supply leads pass to connect to the lamp socket and pass through a raceway located behind the reflector to other fixtures mounted in tandem. The collar and flange can be secured together in any rotational position within a range of 360.degree.. A swivel form of junction box includes two members which are mutually rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the collar/flange axis to increase the positional adjustability of the fixture.
