    • The vehicle brake system has a master brake cylinder to generate brake pressure in at least one wheel brake. To avoid wheel locking during braking, a pressure control valve assembly and a pump for drawing pressure fluid out of the wheel brake are disposed between the master brake cylinder and the wheel brake. With its outlet, the pump communicates with the master brake cylinder via a damper chamber and a throttle having a pressure limiting valve disposed to bypass the throttle. The throttle and the pressure limiting valve have a common sleevelike housing, in which a cylindrically embodiment closing element is guided longitudinally movably. This closing element has a hollow collar on its face end that in the closing position fits over an inflow opening for pressure fluid. The collar of the closing element, in order to form the throttle, is provided with at least one aperture open toward this face end. The pressure limiting valve, which responds if the throttle is blocked with particles, overcomes the cross-sectional limitation of the throttle, so that the throttle can be self cleaning.

    • Pulsation dampener apparatus includes a cylindrical housing having three baffles dividing the interior of the housing into four chambers. A conduit within the apparatus connects the top and bottom chambers, and a second conduit connects the second, third, and fourth chambers. Pressurized air for operating a pneumatic tool, such as a drill or the like, is connected to the top chamber from a main air line or manifold. The pressurized air flows from the bottom chamber directly to the tool. Back pressure pulsations caused by the tool, are dampened within the second and third chambers of the cylinder so that the pulsations are not fed back into the main air line or manifold, where they may cause problems with other pneumatic tools connected to the main air line or manifold.

    • A pulse dampener for inclusion into a liquid chromatography system comprising a body defining a cylindrical cavity which is enclosed by a closure member. A chemically inert diaphram extends across the cavity and further encloses a unitized plug. The unitized plug is provided with at least two portions, each having different compressibility characteristics. The closure member is provided with inlet and outlet ports, and a central thinned section on which is mounted a strain gauge. The strain gauge is used to measure liquid pressure in the dampener.

    • Described herein is the combination of a fluid pulse generator for generating a sequence of periodic fluid pulses of substantially equal fluid volume in response to a corresponding sequence of periodic digital signals, and a fluid pulse smoother which receives the fluid pulses from the generator and integrates or smooths those fluid pulses to provide a continuous flow of fluid whose volume and rate of flow correspond to the volume and rate of flow of fluid associated with the pulses received from the pulse generator. A workpiece may be driven smoothly and continuously over a predetermined distance by the steady flow of fluid from the pulse smoother merely by providing the necessary number of electrical signals to the pulse generator.

    • An accumulator for a hydraulic control system of frictional engagement mechanisms comprises a housing with a stepped bore, a first stepped piston reciprocable within the bore to form a back pressure chamber communicated with a source of line pressure, a second piston reciprocable within the first piston in a predetermind stroke to form an accumulation chamber communicated with the line pressure source, and a spring for biasing the second piston toward the accumulation chamber.
