摘要： An angle joint or swivel joint, consisting principally of a ball and socket wherein the ball socket is constructed preferably of a tough plastic. The ball socket has a body which is bifurcated by a central slot, thereby permitting elastic yielding of the two constituent jaws when the spherical end of the ball pin is emplaced in the ball socket. In order to prevent subsequent relative movement of the two parts of the ball socket, the body of the ball socket has a transverse profiled channel which receives a mating locking bolt having the same profile. When the locking bolt has been driven home, the two previously yielding jaws are prevented from further relative motion, thereby imprisoning the ball in the socket. A cut-out in one of the jaws permits preassembly without locking and a protrusion of the locking bolt makes possible subsequent removal and disassembly.

摘要： A ball-and-socket joint is provided having a mounting base with a spherical slotted socket protruding therefrom, and slotted openings being provided in the base. A ball is mounted in the spherical slotted socket, and a sleeve having fingers extending therefrom is positioned on the socket with the fingers extending into the slots of the base. A sloping ramp is provided on the base near the slots therein, whereby, on rotation of the sleeve, the fingers positioned therein are drawn up the ramp, pulling the sleeve toward the base, and clamping the ball in the slotted joint, which is accomplished by hand movement of the sleeve. When so locked, the joint is incapable of being released by hand, and requires a special tool for release.

摘要： A locking device for securing a ball-type coupling to a base which includes a hollow cylindrical receiving cylinder adapted to receive the ball of the ball-type coupling, a series of spheres movably mounted in the periphery of the receiving cylinder, a securing cylinder adapted to fit over the receiving cylinder and engage the spheres, and a pair of hinged arms attached to the securing cylinder whereby the securing cylinder can be raised or lowered. The securing cylinder and receiving cylinder are so mechanically interrelated that when the ball is placed in the latter and the hinged arms are depressed, the securing cylinder is lowered into place over the receiving cylinder and the ball of a ball-type coupling is securely, but rotatably, locked inside the receiving cylinder.

摘要： A ball mount for an accessory device is provided. The ball mount may include a rectilinear base, such as, but not limited to a square, that is configured to couple within a recess of similar shape formed in a mounting base. The sides and bottom surface of rectilinear base of the ball mount engages the sides and recessed surface of the recess of the mounting base. This engagement prevents rotation of the ball mount with respect to the mounting base and inhibits loosening of the ball mount from the mounting base. A system that includes the ball mount and mounting base is also provided that allows for the attachment of the ball mount to a vehicle that is not originally equipped for the attachment of a ball mount.
