    • An apparatus, method and system for installing water impervious barrier walls underground and particularly in levees. A mobile trailer movably mounted on rails carries upstanding front and rear masts and a carrier bar therebetween that is power driven up and down the masts. Augers mounted on the carrier bar are driven into the levee surface to create overlapping holes of loosened soil. A slurry of cement based grout is pumped through the augers to be mixed with the soil by the rotating, retracting augers to produce a soil-concrete slurry. A following mobile trailer also movably mounted on the rails is moved into position over the wall segment of uncured soil-concrete slurry. The following trailer carries a supply of water impervious membrane. Mechanism on the second trailer inserts the membrane into the soil-concrete slurry to produce a water impervious barrier wall segment. The trailers are sequentially moved along the levee to install a continuous water impervious barrier wall along the levee length.

    • A method of constructing an impermeable wall in the ground is disclosed. The method utilizes prefabricated panels and does not require the same thickness of wall as normally has to be cast in a trench. The method comprises the steps of excavating a trench having a defined width, replacing excavated material with bentonite water slurry, placing interlocking, prefabricated concrete panels in the trench, the panels having a thickness less than the width of the trench, one side of the panels resting against one side of the trench, placing guides in the trench between the other side of the panels and the other side of the trench to hold the panels upright and against the one side of the trench, pouring concrete by tremie pipe in the bottom of the trench for a predetermined height replacing some of the bentonite water slurry, grouting joints between adjacent panels to ensure a waterproof seal, after the concrete and grouting has hardened, back filling remainder of the trench with selected material replacing most of the remaining bentonite water slurry and mixing with a small amount of the slurry, and packing the selected material well down to form an impermeable wall.

    • A drainage wall system and method of erecting same which may be constructed substantially along property lines without encroachment exteriorly of the property lines and without requiring thick beams of struts within the property lines as are requisite with steel sheet piling or other impermeable cofferdams. A permeable cofferdam is associated with a series of vertical column members and is provided with means for guiding water which seeps therethrough to a drainage system which removes the water and thereby the water pressure from the cofferdam. A reinforced concrete wall is alter added without impairing the effectiveness of the drainage system.

    • Abutment and bridge designs include a bridge superstructure and abutment wherein the abutment has a vertical portion of a backwall that can be fixedly joined to the end face of the bridge superstructure without an interdisposed expansion joint. A downward facing surface of the bridge superstructure can be fixedly joined to an upward facing surface of the abutment, or alternatively, a bearing pad may be disposed therebetween. The abutment may further comprise a backwall made from a plurality of panels fixedly joined to a plurality of supporting piles. The abutments and bridge superstructure may be made substantially from composite materials including recycled structural composite and other thermoplastics.
