摘要： This disclosure provides a protective diving system for isolating a diver from a hazardous diving environment. The protective diving system can include a dry suit system including a dry suit and a surface exhaust valve coupled to the dry suit, and a return-surface exhaust assembly configured to exhaust gas from the dry suit system to a breathable atmosphere outside of the diving environment of the diver. The surface exhaust valve is configured to receive gas from the dry suit and exhaust gas to the return-surface exhaust assembly without exhausting to the surrounding diving environment. The protective diving system can further include one or more chemically-resistant components, where the chemically-resistant components include a fluoroelastomer.

摘要： A sealing device for a body suit and a sealing method utilize a reactive seal that incorporates a swelling polymer activated upon contact with a fluid medium, such as water. The reactive seal can be embodied in a neck seal, wrist seal, or ankle seal of the body suit, where the reactive seal is designed to be loose and comfortable to wear, only exerting sealing pressure when needed. The swelling polymer can be a superabsorbent hydrogel such as a blend of polyacrylate polymer with poly-anionic beads (PAB). In one application, a 50/50 blend of polyacrylate and PAB is used, such that the reactive seal can autonomously tighten within about 10 to 15 seconds. The device and method can be used in various other applications to form a seal for preventing the passage of fluid from one volume to another.

The valve and thus suit pressure is controlled by the suit occupant and the valve includes a mechanism for quickly dumping the suit pressure in case of emergency. Pressure monitoring and relief devices are also included in the box unit.
