摘要： There are provided a roll sheet conveying apparatus and a sheet conveying control method wherein it is possible to control motor driving for conveying a roll sheet at appropriate timing to keep constant the tension of the sheet to be conveyed without performing a special identifying operation. For this feature, a relationship between friction load torque on the roll sheet and the mass of the roll sheet is previously stored in a storing unit, whereby the moment of inertia of the roll sheet can be detected at appropriate timing during printing. As a result, the optimum tension of the sheet to be conveyed can be maintained by appropriately adjusting the driving control of a sheet feeding motor and a conveying motor without performing a special identifying operation.

The printer drives the supply motor in a first operating mode in a slack removal operation that rewinds the recording paper (media) onto a paper roll 2, and stops driving the supply motor when the tension lever (movable member) moves from a slack-side first position toward a second position. In the movement checking operation, the supply motor is driven in a second operating mode with greater output than the first operating mode, rewinds the recording paper on the paper roll, and sets the tension lever to the second position.

摘要： A method and system for reducing tension fluctuations in a printing system are disclosed. A plurality of tension zones is defined in the printing system. Tension on the web in one tension zone is controlled independently of the tension on the web in the other tension zones. The printing system also includes at least one roller for each tension zone. The rollers receive tension control commands and control the amount of tension on the web in their respective tension zones. The printing system is used to print a first copy of the print job on the web and tension on the web in each tension zone is measured. Tension control adjustments are computed for each tension zone based on the tension measurements. The tension control adjustments are used to adjust the tension control commands to the rollers to print a second copy of the print job.
