摘要： A knitted fabric cylinder is folded, rolled, reversed, and, preferably, sewn so as to contain two compartments, one of which is waterproof. It appears similar to, and functions as an ordinary knit putter cover, but can also be used to wash golf balls. The waterproof compartment is lined with a non-absorbent yarn, typically polyester, to facilitate the washing of golf balls. The other compartment is lined with an absorbent yarn, typically acrylic, and will stretch to conform the shape of an inserted putter head. A moisture barrier, preferably of molded synthetic rubber, backs the fabric of the waterproof washing compartment in order to securely retain detergent solution introduced into the washing compartment. A golf ball is inserted into the washing compartment and manually manipulated to wipe stains and debris from the surface of the ball. A putter head is received into a separate, knit fabric lined, putter compartment. Each of the exterior, the ball washing compartment liner and the putter compartment liner, are fabricated from selected textile yarns and weaves as a single tubular-shaped unit made on a cylindrical knitting machine.

The exit tube has an inner wall lined with brushes near the adjoining end and sponges near the exit end. A rotatable helical (spiral) array of brushes, or/and sponges, is arranged inside of and concentric with the exit tube. The washer is supported with the entrance and exit above the joining ends so that the housing will hold water up to a level that is determined by a weep hole to keep the brushes submerged. The helical array of brushes can be turned manually by a crank extending from the central shaft of the helical brush array to function as a lift mechanism. Balls are inserted into the entrance end of the housing and as the handle is turned, the ball is scrubbed as it is lifted by the helical brush array toward the exit end of the housing onto a sponge-lined tray having weep holes therein.

The container has a peripheral dimension just enough larger than the peripheral dimension of a golf ball to have room for an upper brush to clean the upper part of the ball, a lower brush to clean the lower part of the ball, and an annular brush or scrubbing material in the form of a ring interposed between the upper and lower brush to clean the intermediate part of the ball, when the ball is positioned and held in the center of the container's cavity. The upper brush is rotatably mounted in the cover of the container with a hand crank or hand wheel to rotate the upper brush when the cover is in place on the container. Three, or more, spring fingers extend down from the base of the rotatable upper brush to hold the golf ball and position it in the center of the container's cavity when the cover is put in place to close the container. Water and a detergent or other cleaning solution is carried in the container, which is water sealeable to prevent leakage while being carried in the golfer's golf bag.

摘要： An open frame structure has spring fingers for lightly gripping a tennis ball. A shaft rotatably mounts a napping wheel in the open frame structure, the periphery of the napping wheel having bristles except for a given circumferential section. Also secured to the shaft is a radially extending arm terminating in a friction pad to one side of the napping wheel and positioned to engage the tennis ball when gripped in the spring fingers. The arrangement is such that rotation of the napping wheel causes the bristles to successively engage the tennis ball to rotate the same about an axis parallel to the axis of the napping wheel shaft. Once each rotation, the friction pad on the radially extending arm will engage a side portion of the tennis ball and rotate it slightly about a different axis so that the bristles will engage a different circumferential path portion about the ball resulting in substantially the entire area of the ball being napped after several rotations.
