摘要： An apparatus for extracting parasites from a rectum includes a shaft and a guard portion. The shaft with a distal portion is configured to be inserted through an anus into the rectum, the distal portion of the shaft including a plurality of protrusions or a plurality of grooves designed to catch and hold parasites when removed from the rectum, the shaft further including a proximal portion designed to serve as a handle. The guard portion is positioned on the shaft between the proximal portion and the distal portion of the shaft to prevent the distal portion from being inserted into the rectum further than a predefined distance.

摘要： A hand-held tool for locating and removing parasitic insects from hair-covered skin comprises a tool body including a pad-like head portion with extended handle and a magnifying window incorporated therein; a linear set of rake-like teeth along one side of the window projecting at a 90° thereto; and a separate set of comb-like teeth along the opposite side of the window projecting at about 45°. With means for illuminating the viewing area further provided around the magnifying window, the tool is stroked through the hair with the rake-like teeth passing in the direction opposite from the natural growth of the hair to provide an illuminated and magnified view of exposed skin area through the window as the hair is pulled back by the rake-like teeth. If an insect is viewed, the tool is stroked in reverse through the same area leading with the comb-like teeth to collect and remove the insect.

摘要： It is of utmost importance that an imbedded tick is removed promptly after attachment and without causing distress to prevent possible infection from harmful diseases ticks carry. Further problems are created when the mouthparts are disassociated and left within the host's dermis. The Tick Removal Instrument is able to reliably remove the tick, including the mouthparts, without provoking the parasite to expel fluids into the host. The tick engaging portion includes a “vee groove” and a pointing prong which close upon each other to trap the tick. The pointing prong includes a specifically designed part which paralyzes the tick and causes it to release its grip from within the host's dermis. Ergonomic thumb and finger locators facilitate the use of the tool in a comfortable position suitable for use by either hand. The tick is easily removed by a gentle motion of the tool.
