摘要： A latch assembly for a dishwasher door having a bolt secured to the door. The bolt has a catch including a ramp surface facing toward the tub. An actuator is slidably connected to the bolt. A switch is secured to the bolt such that movement of the actuator may selectively close the switch. A handle is moveably mounted to the bolt in a position for access from the front surface of the door. A strike plate is connected to the tub and includes a latching portion extending toward the door. The strike plate flexes vertically to deflect up over the latch when the door moves to the closed position. The strike plate may be released from the latch by moving the handle upwardly.

The latch assembly includes a handle pivotally mounted to the door for rotation about a first end, and a latch actuator contacting said handle and mounted to the door for rotation about a first end. The handle rotates in one direction when actuated and said latch actuator rotates in a second direction opposite the first direction. A keeper is engaged to the door retainer projection in a closed position, and the latch actuator is configured to disengage said keeper from the door retainer projection when said handle is actuated.

If the door is opened for more than a predetermined period of time, the indicator light will be deactuated, but if the door is opened for less than the predetermined period of time and then reclosed, the indicator light will be left in its on condition. The timer may be a series of cams attached to a motor, a bi-metal switch located adjacent the indicator light, or a microprocessor connected to and driving the indicator light.

摘要： A switch and latch arrangement for use in a washing appliance of the type providing for user selection of one of two dry cycle options in which option selection is coupled to the door latch mechanism in such a manner that movement of the door latch means from a latched to an unlatched position assures that a predetermined one of said options is automatically selected, requiring manual override at that selection by the user after latching the door if the other option is desired. In an illustrative embodiment, the switch and latch arrangement is used in a dishwasher which provides for user selection of a non-heated dry option or a heated dry option. An option selection button, movable between a first portion for enabling the non-heated option and a second position for enabling the heated dry option is provided. The selection button is mechanically coupled to movement of the door latch handle in such a manner that in response to movement of the latch handle from its latched position to its unlatched position the selection button will always assume its first position.

摘要： When the appliance door is open, the latching element of the latch is lodged within a pocket in a slot formed in the latch bracket and is blocked against movement from an unlatched position so as to prevent operation of the appliance. As the door is closed, a strike directly engages the latching element and forces the latching element out of the pocket to free the latching element for movement from the unlatched position. If the door is reopened before being latched but after the latching element has been moved a short distance from the unlatched position, the latching element is blocked against movement to a fully latched position and the appliance cannot be operated.
