摘要： A finger guard which is made of impervious hardened plastic. It is open at the proximal end and tapered to closure adjacent the distal end. A compressible-extensible slot extends in axial alignment of the guard from the proximal end thereof to a position which is short of the absolute distal end. The guard slot, while closed during nonuse, is expandable into variant expandable widening positions, which positions are determined by the size of the carpenter's index finger. There are two factors which secure the splinter guard to the index finger. The first is by a resistance compression of the guard upon the finger, causing a friction fit. Secondly, as the asymmetric interior configuration of the guard conforms to the distal joint and fingernail extension of the finger, this causes a clamping effect and friction fit as the finger is forced into protected position. The guard is adaptable to either the left or right hand index finger without modification. Its utility extends to power sawing and board measurement.

摘要： A hand protector for fishing has a thumb portion which includes material on at least the inner or pad side of the thumb, for the direct engagement of the teeth of a typical game or sport fish for the support and carriage thereof. The teeth engaging material may be any suitable pile type material comprising a multitude of small loops; the loop portion of hook and loop fastening material (e. g., Velcro, tm) may be used. The thumb portion of the protector also provides complete protection for the thumb of a wearer of the device, from possible injury from the teeth of the fish. In an alternative embodiment, the protector includes a glove covering most of the hand and providing for greater comfort in colder conditions. The four fingertips of the glove embodiment are open, to provide for good tactile feel for the user of the glove. The protector is positively secured to the hand of the user to preclude slippage when lifting or holding a fish by the thumb portion engaging the teeth of a fish, but the protector may be easily removed when desired.

摘要： A finger guard for protection against injury by a knife when cutting foodstuff. The finger guard extends along the back-hand face of an operator finger, and is bendable concurrently with the latter. The finger guard consists of a multiplicity of spaced-apart, interconnected lamellae, with a given upper lamella having a lower portion overlying the upper portion of the corresponding lower lamella; wherein should the blade of a knife hit the finger guard, that blade would subsequently slide downwardly successively from upper to lower lamellae in a frictionless fashion without injury to the finger. Two elongated flexible metal stems extends on each side of and pivotally interconnects with the lamellae. The stems can bend to follow the motion of the finger. An adjustable retaining strap surrounds the front hand face of the finger at an intermediate portion of the finger guard and a basket member, attached to the stems, receives the finger tip.
