摘要： A control circuit that operably couples to a display and to a nerve block injection pressure sensor provides a display of both a current nerve block injection pressure value and a current nerve block injection pressure categorical range. That categorical range can comprise, for example, one of a plurality of available categorical ranges which may be visually differentiated from one another by color. The control circuit can also detect (and display) a maximum nerve block injection pressure value (and/or calculate a mean nerve block injection pressure value) as corresponds to a given monitored nerve block injection procedure. The control circuit can also detect negative nerve block injection pressure events and identify those events as aspiration events to facilitate keeping a count of aspiration events during the course of a given nerve block injection procedure. The control circuit can also help ensure observe of the proper patient laterality if desired.

摘要： Catheter assemblies are described having a catheter hub with a catheter tube and a needle hub with a needle projecting through the catheter tube. The catheter hub has a valve or a septum for stopping or slowing down the flow of fluid in or out of the catheter hub when the valve or septum is closed. The valve or septum has an exposed proximal wall that enables the valve to be wiped or cleaned with an antiseptic solution. The valve further has a cavity for receiving at least part of a needle guard, which is incorporated for preventing accidental needle stick with the needle tip.

摘要： Catheter assemblies are generally discussed herein with particular discussions extended to catheter assemblies having a tip protector, a valve, a valve opener, and optionally a needle wiper. The valve opener is disposed inside a catheter hub and is configured to be pushed by an IV set luer connector to open a valve following successful catheterization to pass fluids or other solutions through the catheter. A tip protector is incorporated to block the needle tip and prevent the same from accidental needle stick. A wiper is optionally included to wipe blood deposits from the needle when the same is retracted from the catheter.

Exemplary needle safety assemblies include a needle with a sharpened tip attached directly or indirectly to an elongate tube having a proximal end that is constrained from proximal axial movement. An elongate shield with a distal end opening and a body extends over at least a portion of the elongate tube. A needle holder is coupled to the elongate shield and fixed axially. The needle holder has a proximal opening sized and shaped to receive a sampling device, such as a vacutainer. A tab having a pin extends radially outwardly from the elongate tube and through a slot formed with the elongate shield, which is movable to move the needle.
