摘要： A substrate for a display apparatus includes a plate, a switching element, an insulating layer, and a partition wall. The plate has a reflection region on which a light that is provided from an exterior to the substrate is reflected and a transmission region through which a light generated from a backlight assembly passes. The switching element is on the plate. The insulating layer is on the plate having the switching element. The transmission region of the insulating layer is recessed when compared to the reflection region of the insulating layer. The insulating layer has a contact hole through which a first electrode of the switching element is partially exposed. The partition wall divides the transmission region into a plurality of transmission portions. Advantageously, an image display quality of the display apparatus is improved, and manufacturing cost is decreased.

Therefore, the viewing angle and the image display quality of the LCD apparatus are improved, and a manufacturing process is simplified.

摘要： A vertical alignment mode reflective-transmissive liquid crystal display (LCD) includes the first substrate having an upper surface and a lower surface and the second substrate having an upper surface and a lower surface and facing the first substrate. A cell is formed between the upper surface of the first substrate and the lower surface of the second substrate. The cell has a plurality cell-gaps. A vertically aligned liquid crystal layer is disposed in the cell. The reflective region of the LCD has a cell-gap ranging from about 1.8 μm to about 2.2 μm, and the transmissive region of the LCD has a cell-gap ranging from about 3.6 μm to about 4.0 μm. The first optical film assembly including the first polarizer is disposed on the lower surface of the first substrate. The second optical film assembly including the second polarizer is disposed on the upper surface of the second substrate. An absorption axis of the first polarizer is substantially perpendicular to that of the second polarizer.

The display device includes a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines crossing the gate lines for transmitting gray voltages corresponding to image data among a plurality of the gray voltages as data voltages, and a plurality of pixels connected to the gate and the data lines for receiving the data voltages. The pixels include first color pixels, second color pixels, and third color pixels. The first color pixels express a maximum luminance upon application of a first voltage having the maximum value among the gray voltages, and the second and the third color pixels express a maximum luminance upon application of second and third voltages less than the first voltage among the gray voltages.

摘要： In a transflective-type display panel and a display apparatus having the transflective-type display panel, the transflective-type display panel includes a first display substrate, a second display substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The first display substrate includes a first substrate and a common electrode arranged on the first substrate. The second display substrate includes a second substrate having a main pixel area where a plurality of sub pixel areas are formed, a plurality of transmission electrodes formed in the sub pixel areas and coupled with each other, and a reflection electrode arranged in at least one sub pixel area. Thus, the transflective-type display panel improves a viewing angle and a display quality thereof and improves productivity.

摘要： A display apparatus includes a voltage applying unit formed on a base substrate. An organic layer having a plurality of micro lens parts is formed to expose an output terminal of the voltage applying unit. Each of the micro lens parts has an irregular shape of a different size to increase a light reflectance. A pixel electrode comprises a first electrode formed on the organic layer and a second electrode formed on an upper face of the first electrode. The second electrode has a light transmitting window partially formed on the second electrode. A second substrate comprises a common electrode corresponding to the pixel electrode. A liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first and second substrates. The display apparatus may improve a display quality by increasing an amount of a light reflected from the pixel electrode.
