    • The present invention proposes methods in relation to providing for random access in a local area network environment, and encompasses, from an eNB perspective, defining (S1) a set of N dedicated preambles among a total number X of preambles, allocating (S4) a dedicated preamble to a terminal responsive to a connection request received from said terminal, and identifying (S9) said terminal when requesting random access, based on the allocated dedicated preamble contained in a random access request received. From a UE perspective, it encompasses requesting (S3) a connection to be established with a network transceiver device, receiving (S5) information on a dedicated preamble being allocated, and issuing (S8) a random access request to said network transceiver device which includes the allocated dedicated preamble. It also addresses correspondingly configured devices and computer program products.

    • A timing advance TA for a second component carrier CC is determined in dependence on a difference value that is indicated in wireless signaling between a network and a user equipment UE, in which the second CC and a first CC is allocated to the UE simultaneously. The determined TA is utilized to synchronize wireless communications on the second CC between the network and the UE. In exemplary embodiments: the difference value is a difference between times at which downlink transmissions were sent on the first and second CCs, and determining comprises solving for the TA for the second CC utilizing the signaled difference value in at least one algorithm; the difference value may be signaled in a MAC message or via RRC signaling, and the second CC may be an extension carrier. Apparatus, methods and programs are detailed for the UE and for the network access node/eNB.

    • Methods, apparatus and computer program products are provided for defining the HARQ functionality for primary and secondary cells having different TDD UL/DL subframe configurations so as to reduce or eliminate instances in which the feedback is blocked and the UL grant is missed. For example, a method is provided that includes providing for communications via a primary cell and at least one secondary cell in a time division duplex (TDD) network that supports carrier aggregation in accordance with different TDD uplink (UL)/downlink (DL) subframe configurations. In this example, the method also defines at least one of: (i) UL or DL hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) timing, (ii) a maximum number of DL HARQ processes, (iii) a number of UL HARQ processes or (iv) an UL HARQ process mapping to be the same for each of the primary and secondary cells having different TDD UL/DL subframe configurations.

A method and apparatus may generate one or more parameters defining a new special subframe configuration associated with downlink communications. The new special subframe configuration is generated in addition to one or more other special subframe configurations. The new special subframe configuration includes information indicating a plurality of downlink symbols that exceed a number of downlink symbols of one of the other special subframe configurations which reduces overlap between a first system and a second system, the plurality of downlink symbols minimize interference between the first and second systems and increases utilization of resources. The method and apparatus may provide a message to one or more communication devices to enable at least a first subset of the communication devices to detect the new special subframe configuration.
