    • There is provided a method for transferring a charge image wherein the charge image is formed on a surface of the master recording medium and a reproduction member is brought to contact with the surface of the master recording medium, the reproduction member being a laminated structure of photomodulation layer and electrode layer, thereby the charge image formed on the surface of the master recording medium is transferred to a surface of the photomodulation layer of the reproduction member. Further the charge is formed on a surface of the master recording medium, a reproduction member is brought to confront with the surface of the master recording medium across a gap, the reproduction member being a laminated structure of photomodulation layer and electrode layer and a space discharge is caused across the gap thereby the charge image formed on the surface of the master recording medium is transferred across the gap to a surface of the photomodulation layer of the reproduction member.

    • There is provided a recording medium for recording information in a form of a charge latent image. The recording medium comprises, at least, an electrode through which an electro-magnetic radiation beam passes, a photo-conductive layer (hereinafter abbreviated in a PCL) whose resistance varies when the beam is applied thereto and an insulation layer (hereinafter abbreviated in an IL), the electrode and the layers being laminated to each other. There is further provided an apparatus for recording an image as a charge latent image on the medium described above. The apparatus comprises a guide for guiding an electro-magnetic radiation beam through the electrode, an auxiliary electrode arrangeed to face the madium so as to interpose the PCL and the IL between the electrodes and an unit for applying an electric field across the electrodes. There is still further provided an apparatus for reproducing information prerecorded as a charge latent image on the medium. The apparatus comprises a pickup having a plurality of voltage detection electrodes confronting the charge latent image recorded on the medium, a generator for projecting an electro-magnetic radiation beam toward the medium along a path and a reading head disposed in the path and having at least a photo-modulation layer facing the medium so as to be subject to charge of the charge latent image prerecorded on the medium.

    • A liquid crystal displaying apparatus has a reflection-type liquid crystal display with vertical orientation-mode liquid crystals, to modulate linearly polarized light. Further provided are a quarter wavelength plate to allow elliptically polarized light which includes the first polarized light components and a small quantity of the second polarized light components to pass therethrough when the liquid crystal display is active for modulation, and a polarizer to allow polarized light components of the elliptically polarized light to pass therethrough, the polarized light components matching a transmission axis of the polarizer.

    • An improved color filter and a color image display apparatus employs the filter, the color filter has a hologram device for spectrally diffracting an incident light into plural light beams of different wavelength regions and selectively converging the plural light beams on respective plural picture element electrodes corresponding to the different wavelength regions. The hologram device has such characteristics that S-polarized components of the incident light are diffracted at a maximum diffraction efficiency at a predetermined incident angle of the incident light, and P-polarized components of the incident light are diffracted as such that a difference between the maximum diffraction efficiency of the S-polarized components and the diffraction efficiency of the P-polarized components is not less than 30%, and the diffracted S-polarized components are formed as the plural light beams to be converged on the plural picture element electrodes corresponding to the different wavelength regions.

    • An electromagnetic radiation beam scanning system for scanning an object with an electromagnetic radiation beam. The scanning system comprises first and second beam-narrowing devices which are arranged so as to have elongated light-transmission regions, respectively, and which are overlapped each other so that the light-transmission regions intersect each other. The position of each of the light-transmission regions in each of the first and second beam-narrowing devices is arranged to be movable in response to variation of at least one of the application voltages due to the power source.
