摘要： An ink-jet recording apparatus includes recording head having a plurality of recording elements and performs image recording by the steps of detecting a presence of black dots in a prescribed amount of input data and calculates a percentage of black dots, selecting a suitable recording mode for forming an image of the prescribed amount of input data on the recording medium in response to a result of the calculation, and controlling a drive condition of the recording head in accordance with the selected mode. When the percentage of the black dots exceeds a prescribed level, the recording head is driven so as to remove some dots from a total number of dots corresponding to the prescribed amount of the input data or reducing thermal energy to be supplied to the thermal elements in the cause of the image recording.

摘要： In a thermal transfer recording apparatus, an image is recorded on a recording medium by transferring ink from an ink sheet. The apparatus includes a holder for the ink sheet, conveyors for the ink sheet and recording medium, and an ink sheet detector. When the detector determines that the ink sheet is loaded into the holder, the ink sheet is conveyed so as to take up the slack in the ink sheet until the ink sheet reaches a predetermined speed.

摘要： A recording apparatus according to the present invention comprises a recording unit to record images on a recording sheet, and a photosensor which detects the density of the recording surface of a recording sheet. The apparatus records with the recording unit a given pattern on a given position on the recording sheet subsequent to the termination of image recording by the recording unit. A CPU is provided in order to judge the operating state of the recording unit in accordance with the result of the detection by the photosensor as to the pattern density, thus making it possible to automatically and accurately judge whether the image data are normally recorded. In particular, the CPU, using the output of the photosensor, determines whether the given pattern was recorded satisfactorily. If so, it is assumed that the image data was also recorded satisfactorily.

摘要： A heat transfer recording method and apparatus for recording images onto a recording medium is realized by transferring ink contained in an ink sheet onto said recording medium. The apparatus comprises means for conveying the ink sheet in both the positive direction and the direction opposite to the positive direction, means for conveying the recording medium, and means for recording images onto the recording medium by acting on the ink sheet. The method is characterized in that a determination is made whether or not the length of images recorded onto the recording medium is less than or equal to that of the recording medium, and if so, the ink sheet is stopped and the recording medium is conveyed so that an end portion of said recording medium may be positioned at a recording position with the recording means.
