    • The system for collection and transmission of road traffic information comprises a lens system installed on a tall structure such as on the roof of a building and angled vertically or diagonally to include in its field of view a road area subjected to observation and a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements disposed on the focal plane of the lens system along the image of the road area to be formed on the focal plane. The plurality of photoelectric conversion elements are formed in shapes successively decreased in width and length in conformity with the perspective view of the road area formed on the focal plane of the lens system. This system operates on the principle that when a vehicle enters the road area under observation by this system, it causes a change in the brightness of the image of the road area formed on the focal plane of the lens system, the changed brightness of the image induces a corresponding change in the outputs of the photoelectric conversion elements, and the resultant change in the outputs on being processed by scanning gives rise to a series of pulse signals, which are transmitted to a traffic control center.

    • A grinding machine includes a pair of workpiece support devices (12, 13), which clamp and rotate a workpiece (W), on a bed (11). A pair of saddles (14) is provided on the bed (11) in such a way as to be movable along the rotational axis of the workpiece (W).     • An apparatus includes a switching circuit operable with an arrangement configured to effectuate a charging or discharging of an energy-storage device to a circuit including electrically-parallel condenser. The switching circuit includes a main switch electrically connectable to the condenser, and a control circuit electrically connected in parallel with the main switch, and electrically connectable to the condenser. The main switch and control circuit are each configured to independently, switchably pass current from the energy-storage device to the condenser and a power load/source. In this regard, the main switch and control circuit are controllable to pass current from the energy-storage device to the power load, and in a manner whereby current from the energy-storage device to the condenser is diverted from passing through the main switch for a period during which a voltage disparity between the condenser and energy-storage device decreases to within a predetermined range.

    • A first grinding head is provided on a base frame via a first movable body and a first grinding base. The proximal portion of the tilt arm is tiltably fitted in the housing of the grinding head. A measuring device is rotatably coupled to a distal portion of the tilt arm. A gauge and a measuring pin are coupled to the lower end of the measuring device, and the gauge is engaged with a crankpin of a crankshaft. A tilt center of the tilt arm is arranged on the same axis as the rotation center of the first grindstone ISA. When the tilt arm is tilted, the position of the measuring device is changed, accordingly. However, since the relational relationship between the first grindstone ISA and the gauge is not changed, the position of the gauge is easily adjusted in accordance with the diameter of the crankpin. Accordingly, a grinding machine is provided that simplifies the movement path of the gauge of the measuring device, thereby allowing the outer diameter of the workpiece to be quickly measured.
