The present invention relates to a rubber composition formed from a masterbatch containing a rubber latex and microfibrillated plant fibers, the masterbatch being obtained by stirring the microfibrillated plant fibers in a solvent with a circulation type or continuous homogenizer and mixing the resulting microfibrillated plant fiber solution with the rubber latex and a cationic polymer, the microfibrillated plant fibers having a mean fiber length of 10 to 150 μm, the microfibrillated plant fiber solution containing 0.1 to 2.0% by mass of the microfibrillated plant fibers, and the amount of the cationic polymer being 0.01 to 5 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component of the rubber latex.

    • The invention provides an inner liner rubber composition that enables improvements in handling stability, fuel economy, elongation at break, sheet processability, air barrier properties, and compounding cost in a balanced manner; and a pneumatic tire including an inner liner formed from the rubber composition.     • A rubber composition for an inner-liner joint strip is capable of improving green strength and adhesion, while maintaining good durability (oxidative degradation resistance, crack growth resistance) and good air retention properties, which are exhibited by a pneumatic tire formed from the composition. The rubber composition for an inner-liner joint strip, includes: a butyl rubber; silica and/or carbon black; and an alkylphenol-sulfur chloride condensate represented by formula (1) below, wherein a butyl rubber content is 60 to 100 mass % based on 100 mass % of the rubber component of the rubber composition, a total combined amount of the silica and the carbon black is 21 to 70 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component, and an amount of the alkylphenol-sulfur chloride condensate is 0.1 to 5 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component.
