    • A method for processing hydrocarbons recovered from a subterranean formation is disclosed. The method includes: feeding a stream including water, sand, and heavy hydrocarbons produced from a subterranean formation to a separation vessel; concurrently in the separation vessel: heating the stream components to an elevated temperature to reduce a viscosity of the heavy hydrocarbons; and separating the sand, the heavy hydrocarbon, and the water to form a water fraction, a hydrocarbon fraction, and a sand fraction comprising sand and at least one of water and heavy hydrocarbons; and recovering the water fraction from the separation vessel; recovering the hydrocarbon fraction from the separation vessel; and withdrawing the sand fraction from the separation vessel. Also disclosed are apparatus suitable for performing the above described method.

    • An apparatus and a system is provided that may be utilized to provide stability to air flow through a hood scoop. The present invention may also be utilized to straighten and smooth out air flow through a hood scoop and accompanying air filter media. The present invention utilizes an air filtration media which may be inserted into at least a portion of a vehicle hood scoop and may filter out particulate and may also slow air flow down temporarily in order to straighten and/or smooth turbulent air flow through the air filtration media. Additionally, the present invention may provide an apparatus that may facilitate more uniform pressure inside the hood scoop of the vehicle.

    • An air filter has an inner filtering body within an outer filtering body. The air filter is configured to fit inside a scoop and adjacent to the inlet opening of the scoop. By placing the air filter adjacent to the inlet opening of the scoop, the size of the air filter may be increased as compared to a traditional air filter which fits within the neck area of the scoop. As such, the surface area of the air filter may be increased to provide more air to an air intake system such as a carburetor, fuel injectors, throttle body, or the like, as compared the traditional air filter. The inner filtering body may be recessed inside or protrude from the outer filtering body. The inner filtering body may be coupled to the outer filtering body along the base of the air filter. The inner filtering body increases the surface area of the air filter so that more air may be provided to the air intake system of a vehicle.
