    • An ultrasonic therapeutic apparatus comprising an apparatus body including a drive source for ultrasonic oscillation, a hand piece including an ultrasonic vibrator and removably connected to the apparatus body, a drive unit in the apparatus body for applying voltage to the ultrasonic vibrator of the hand piece, thereby driving the ultrasonic vibrator, a probe removably connected to the hand piece and adapted to be vibrated by ultrasonic vibration produced as the ultrasonic vibrator is driven, thereby treating organic tissue, a water supply unit for supplying cooling water to cool the probe, a suction unit for removing waste matter by suction from the organic tissue treated by means of the cooling water and the probe, an ultrasonic output setting section for setting a preset value for an ultrasonic output from the ultrasonic vibrator, a feedwater output setting section for setting a preset value for a feedwater output from the water supply unit, a feedwater output control section for controlling the feedwater output setting by the feedwater output setting section so that the preset feedwater output value is a value such that the probe is cooled and is not excessively heated, and a memory unit for storing the preset values for the ultrasonic output and the feedwater output.

    • Circuit for use in a surgical operation including a phase lock loop having a voltage controlled oscillator, and a phase comparator for comparing a phase of a voltage of a driving signal and a phase of a signal representing the vibration phase of the ultrasonic transducer to derive a phase difference therebetween which is applied to the voltage controlled oscillator as a frequency control voltage such that the driving signal is phase-locked with a resonance frequency of the ultrasonic transducer, the improvement being characterized in that during a start period, a reference signal having a frequency which is increased monotonously is applied to the phase comparator such that the frequency of the driving signal is increased until the driving signal is phase-locked with the vibration phase of the ultrasonic transducer vibrating at the resonance frequency. After the phase-lock condition has been attained, the signal representing the vibration phase of the ultrasonic transducer is applied to the phase comparator instead of the reference signal.

The operation unit is manipulated for clamping a living tissue with the clamping member and distal member or freeing the living tissue therefrom.

    • An ultrasonic operation apparatus performs a treatment through the utilization of an ultrasonic oscillation and comprises a handpiece serving as a surgical tool and an apparatus body including a power source unit for supplying electric power to the handpiece. The handpiece is exchangeably attachable to, and detachable from, the apparatus body. The handpiece comprises an ultrasonic oscillation element for generating an ultrasonic oscillation, a probe for transmitting the ultrasonic oscillation which is generated from the ultrasonic oscillation element to a region of interest of a human being and a signal generating unit for generating a signal corresponding to a resonant frequency inherent in the ultrasonic oscillation element and hence the probe. The power source unit includes a power amplifying unit for receiving a signal corresponding to the resonant frequency inherent in the handpiece from the signal generation unit of the handpiece, amplifying the signal and generating a corresponding drive signal, and a connecting/transmitting unit for transmitting the corresponding drive signal which is generated at the power amplifying unit to the handpiece.
