The base section has an upper surface for supporting a workpiece to be cut. The holder section stands from the base portion. The saw blade section has a circular saw blade for cutting the workpiece. The saw blade support section pivotably sup-ports the saw blade section. The guide bar slidably sup-ports the saw blade support section. The guide bar is slidably supported by the holder section. The guide bar extends substantially parallel to the upper surface of the base section. The saw blade support portion is slidable along the guide bar.

摘要： A miter saw including a base, a turntable, a cutting unit rotatably supporting a circular saw blade, and a support unit movably supporting the cutting unit at a position above the turntable. The support unit has a hinge formed with a recess in which a laser oscillator is accommodated. The laser oscillator emits a projected beam line on a surface of a workpiece W. The line indicates the position of a circular saw blade tip and its extension in a diametrical direction of the circular saw blade. The opening of the recess is closed with a cover that has an opening for allowing the laser beam to pass therethrough. The cover is positioned in confrontation with a fence on which the workpiece abuts for positioning. One surface of the cover is finished into a mirror surface which reflects a cutting line marker already marked on the workpiece and reflects a projected beam line.

The motor is rotatably support vertically at an upper end of the hinge. A safety cover provided in the saw cover and rotatable around a support provided at the rear portion of the saw cover guards the lower half of the saw blade. The safety cover includes a pair of lower cover members mounted so that end portions of the lower cover members can be rotated upwardly irrespective of the cover holder.
