摘要： A motion image decoding apparatus for generating a prediction signal in blocks is provided with a low-resolution block decoder for generating a low-resolution block with a smaller number of pixels than that of a prediction block by decoding encoded data. The motion image decoding apparatus is further provided with an enhanced block generator for enhancing a low-resolution block generated by a decoded low-resolution block to a block with the same number of pixels as that of the prediction block using a decoded image. Furthermore, the motion image decoding apparatus is provided with a block divider for generating plural small blocks by dividing an enhanced block based on a predetermined division rule and a small block predictor for generating a predicted small block of a small block using a decoded image and the plural small blocks.

摘要： The image encoding apparatus of one embodiment of the present invention comprises a coding mode determination unit, a prediction image generation unit, a storage unit, and an encoding unit. The coding mode determination unit determines a coding mode relating to which of the first image prediction processing or second image prediction processing is used for generating prediction image of a partial area of input images. The prediction image generation unit extracts the prediction assist information by the first image prediction processing and generates a prediction image based on the prediction assist information. The storage unit stores the reproduced image that is based on the prediction image. The encoding unit generates a bit stream comprising data obtained by encoding the coding mode information and prediction assist information.

摘要： Disclosed is an image predictive decoding method in which image data obtained by compressively coding a variable-size image using a prescribed method is input, a prediction image is generated using, as a reference image, at least one reproduced image which has been reproduced before an image being an object of decoding, and the object image is subjected to predictive decoding. In this method, the prediction image is generated using, as a reference image, at least one reproduced image which has been recently reproduced and includes significant image data to be referred to. Therefore, when plural objects constituting an image are subjected to compressive coding and transmitted object by object to increase the compression efficiency, it is avoided that a variable-size image which has already disappeared is used as the reference image for predictive decoding. As a result, coded data obtained by efficient compressive coding that suppresses the code quantity can be appropriately decoded.

The padding method is applied to a picture having a great motion, and results in producing a prediction signal with small errors. The present invention also provides an apparatus using the same method.
