摘要： A water based drilling fluid for use in drilling a subterranean well through a subterranean formation that swells in the presence of water, the drilling fluid is formulated to include: an aqueous based continuous phase; a weigh material; a shale encapsulator and an optional shale hydration inhibition agent. The shale encapsulator has the formula: which x and y have a value so that the molecular weight of the cation is in the range of about 10,000 to about 200,000 AMU; A is selected from C1–C6 alkyl, C2–C6 ether or amide; R, R′ and R″ are independently selectable C1–C3 alkyl; and B− is a charge balancing anion to the quaternary amine. The shale encapsulator and the optional shale hydration inhibition agent may be present in sufficient concentrations to reduce the swelling of the subterranean formation in the presence of water. Conventional additives may be included into the formulation of the drilling fluid, such conventional additives may include: fluid loss control agents, alkaline reserve and other pH control agents, bridging agents, lubricants, anti-bit balling agents, corrosion inhibition agents, surfactants and solids suspending agents as well as mixtures and combination of these and similar compounds that should be known to one of skill in the art.

The call is completed using alternative network telephony if it is determined that the called party data satisfies the first criteria. The call is completed via the public switched telephone network (PSTN) if it is determined that the called party data does not satisfy the first criteria.

摘要： A personal communications system is described which includes components of software and hardware operating in conjunction with a personal computer. The user interface control software operates on a personal computer, preferably within the Microsoft Windows.RTM. environment. The software control system communicates with hardware components linked to the software through the personal computer serial communications port. The hardware components include telephone communication equipment, digital signal processors, and hardware to enable voice, fax and data communication with a remote site connected through a standard telephone line. The functions of the hardware components are controlled by control software operating within the hardware component and from the software components operating within the personal computer. The major functions of the system are a telephone function, a voice mail function, a fax manager function, a multi-media mail function, a show and tell function, a terminal function and an address book function. The telephone function allows the present system to operate, from the users perspective, as a conventional telephone using either hands-free, headset or handset operation. The telephone function is more sophisticated than a standard telephone in that the present system converts the voice into a digital signal which can be processed with echo cancellation, compressed, stored as digital data for later retrieval and transmitted as digital voice data concurrent with the transfer of digital information data.

摘要： A system for performing voice compression which includes, a conversion means for converting analog voice signals into discrete samples of digital voice data and collecting the discrete samples into segments, with a means for dividing the segments into subsegments and for producing therefrom a current voice subsegment. A pitch prediction means is used for determining the long term predicted gain of the current voice subsegment by comparing the current voice subsegment to reconstructed voice samples to produce a pitch predictor gain and a lag component and a pitch filter means is used for pitch filtering the current voice subsegment based on the pitch predictor gain and the lag component which then produces long term residual samples. The system includes a means for scaling the long term residual samples based on the peak amplitude of the long term residual samples to produce normalized long term residual samples and a means including a code book stored in a memory for locating a single memory address of a closest match between the normalized long term residual samples and the stored distinct normalized long term residual samples. The system includes an output means for providing the distinct memory address, the pitch predictor gain, the lag component and the peak amplitude for each voice subsegment and a means to reconstruct these samples based on these parameters.
