摘要： An apparatus for scrubbing and mopping a surface, comprising in combination, a supporting carrier, including a block and scrubbing media carried by the carrier, to project toward the surface for scrubbing that surface; first structure for attaching an elongated handle to the carrier to extend in a first direction from the carrier; and second manually manipulable structure for attaching a mop to the carrier, with mop strands extending in generally parallel relation with that surface and in mopping contact therewith, as the scrubbing media simultaneously engages that surface, for simultaneous mopping and scrubbing of that surface, as the handle extends at an angle to the surface to displace the carrier, bristles and mop parallel to the surface, and to transmit downward force to the scrubbing means; structure including a transversely lengthwise extending bar, about which a portion of the mop extends; and there being at least one projection on the carrier for engaging the mop to block bodily movement of said mop portion transversely lengthwise of the bar.

摘要： A mop head comprising a plurality of absorbent strands and an abrasive pad located close to a first ends of the strands may be used in a conventional manner to perform abrasive point load mopping. In a method of abrasive point load mopping, the abrasive pad mechanically breaks up surface contaminants that have accumulated on a kitchen floor without substrate surface deterioration. No special skills, special cleaning solutions or special equipment are required in order to effectively improve the floor's coefficient of friction and thereby reduce the risk of injuries from slips and falls. In one preferred embodiment, the mop head also includes a second abrasive pad located at the mop handle attachment, intermediate the first abrasive pad and the handle.

摘要： Disclosed is a process for removing contaminants from a contaminated area of the ground having a vadose zone and a water table, which comprises providing a borehole in the contaminated area to a depth below the water table; placing in the borehole to a depth below the water table a first perforated riser pipe; placing inside the first perforated riser pipe a second perforated riser pipe; placing inside the second perforated riser pipe a first vacuum extraction pipe with a bottom opening situated within the second perforated riser pipe; placing a second vacuum extraction pipe within the first perforated riser pipe but without the second perforated riser pipe; while introducing a gas into the second perforated riser pipe, applying a vacuum to the first vacuum extraction pipe and applying a vacuum to the second vacuum extraction pipe to draw gases and liquid from the soil into the first vacuum extraction pipe and the second vacuum extraction pipe and transport both gases and liquid to the surface as two-phase common streams through the first vacuum extraction pipe and the second vacuum extraction pipe; forming from the common streams at least one primarily liquid stream and at least one primarily gaseous stream; and separately treating the separated liquid and gas streams. Also disclosed is an apparatus for carrying out the process.

摘要： An imaging head for use in a spark-discharge recording apparatus, including a tracking system for monitoring and maintaining the head a fixed distance away from the surface of a recording blank. The tracking system preferably measures the distance between the head and the surface of the blank using a gas source oriented toward the blank's surface and a pressure sensor for measuring the pressure of the gas reflected therefrom. The signal produced by the pressure sensor indicates the size of the gap. The pressue sensor is coupled to a servo system that alters the position of the head to maintain a preselected gap distance.
