    • A system and method for wireless communications with codebook quantization are provided. A method for communications device operations includes estimating a channel between a controller and a mobile device, generating channel state information from the channel estimate, quantizing the channel state information by selecting a codeword from a rank n codebook based on a codeword selection mechanism, where n is a non-negative integer value, transmitting an index corresponding to the selected codeword and receiving a transmission from the controller. The transmission is precoded based on the index. The rank n codebook includes 2K codewords with each codeword comprising n columns of a transformed base matrix of dimension Nt×Nt, where K is a positive integer number representing a number of bits in the rank n codebook, and Nt is a number of transmit antennas at the controller.

    • A method and system for processing high definition video data to be transmitted over a wireless medium is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving an information packet having the length of L bytes, wherein L=(M×n×K)+A, and where: M is the depth of an interleaver, n is the number of interleavers, K is an encoding code length and A is the number of remainder bytes with respect to M×n×K bytes, wherein the remainder bytes are located at the end of the information packet. M×n×K bytes represent M×n codewords, wherein the remainder bytes sequentially form a plurality of remainder codewords, and wherein the plurality of remainder codewords comprise a last codeword which is located at the end of the remainder codewords. The method further includes i) shortening the last codeword such that the resultant shortened codeword is shorter in length than each of the remaining codewords of the information packet and ii) adding dummy bits to the outer encoded data so as to meet a predefined size requirement for an outer interleaver.

The method includes retrieving existing directional information, the existing directional information having been established in a previous antenna training session with a receiver. The method further includes performing a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation procedure comprising: transmitting an SNR estimation probe message to the receiver via a directional antenna tuned with the existing directional information, and determining whether an estimated SNR value associated with the SNR estimation probe message is equal to or greater than a threshold SNR value. The method further includes transmitting a data message to the receiver via the directional antenna tuned with the existing directional information if it is determined that the estimated SNR value is equal to or greater than the threshold SNR value.

    • A method for communicating uncompressed HD information includes a transmitter configured to send over wireless channels data-packets and a receiver configured to receive the data-packets from the transmitter. The wireless receiver includes decoders configured to decode the data-packets and an ACK-processor configured to aggregate and send acknowledge signals having an ACK signal for at least one subpacket from the previous packet and ACK signals for all but the at least one subpacket from the current packet. The transmitter may resend a subpacket of the data-packets corresponding to ACK signals in the second status received from the receiver. The new partially delayed ACK mechanism can substantially improve the system throughput for systems with parallel multiple decoders.
