    • The present invention provides a projection display system comprising: illumination lights of plural colors emitted from plural laser light sources; an illumination optical system for illuminating the illumination light of at least one of the colors in an beam axis or in an illumination range, either of which is different from the other colors; a deflection mirror device for modulating the illumination lights of respective colors in the same deflection angle, with the modulation of each color being performed in sequence within one frame; a projection optical system for projecting the reflection light of the illumination light from the deflection mirror device; and a laser light source control circuit for controlling the intensity of the illumination light of each color, wherein the laser light source control circuit performs adjustment so that the ratio of intensity of each of the colors is a prescribed ratio.

    • The present invention provides a projection device comprising a semiconductor light source comprises a plurality of sub light sources arranged in an array, an illumination optical system for guiding an illumination light emitted from the semiconductor light source, a spatial light modulator for receiving and applying an image signal for modulating the illumination light emitted from the semiconductor light source guided by said illumination optical system, a control circuit for controlling the semiconductor light source and the spatial light modulator and a projection optical system for projecting images by applying the illumination light modulated by the spatial light modulator.     • This invention provides a display system that receives an image signal containing a binary data of N bits, wherein N is a positive integer, for displaying an image with a grayscale corresponding to the binary data. The display system further includes a data converter for converting M-bit of the N bits of the binary data into a non-binary data, wherein M is a positive integer and N≧M, for applying the non-binary data as a sub-frame in controlling the gray scale in displaying the image. In an exemplary embodiment, the data converter converts consecutive M-bit of the N bits of the binary data into the non-binary data. The display system further includes a spatial light modulator (SLM) having a plurality of pixel elements and the SLM receiving the non-binary data of M bits for controlling the pixel elements.
