    • In order to create a grate plate design for a thrust grating cooler for cooling hot material such as, for example, cement clinker, this grate plate design has troughs at its upper side for accepting and retaining cool material for the purpose of protecting the grate plate against thermal overload, whereby these troughs are to be supplied with cooling air via cooling air channels arranged therebetween and via air exit slots without the risk of blockage thereof. A grate plate is provided wherein a plurality of cooling air channels that extend up to the upper side of the grate plates and limit the troughs from one another are arranged in the grate plate member parallel to the longitudinal axis of the grate plates, and whereby the partitions between the air channels and the troughs comprise air exit slots proceeding parallel to the longitudinal axis of the plates which are arranged immediately above the bottom plate of the grate plate.

    • Robust media fingerprints are derived from a portion of audio content. A portion of content in an audio signal is categorized. The audio content is characterized based, at least in part, on one or more of its features. The features may include a component that relates to one of several sound categories, e.g., speech and/or noise, which may be mixed with the audio signal. Upon categorizing the audio content as free of the speech or noise related components, the audio signal component is processed. Upon categorizing the audio content as including the speech related component and/or the noise related components, the speech or noise related components are separated from the audio signal. The audio signal is processed independent of the speech related component and/or the noise related component. Processing the audio signal includes computing the audio fingerprint, which reliably corresponds to the audio signal.

    • Methods and apparatuses for performing song detection on an audio signal are described. Clips of the audio signal are classified into classes comprising music. Class boundaries of music clips are detected as candidate boundaries of a first type. Combinations including non-overlapped sections are derived. Each section meets the following conditions: 1) including at least one music segment longer than a predetermined minimum song duration, 2) shorter than a predetermined maximum song duration, 3) both starting and ending with a music clip, and 4) a proportion of the music clips in each of the sections is greater than a predetermined minimum proportion. In this way, various possible song partitions in the audio signal can be obtained for investigation.

    • Quantized energy values are accessed to initially represent a temporally related group of content elements in a media sequence. The values are accessed over a matrix of regions into which the initial representation is partitioned. The initial representation may be downsampled and/or cropped from the content. A basis vector set is estimated in a dimensional space from the values. The initial representation is transformed into a subsequent representation, which is in another dimensional space. The subsequent representation projects the initial representation, based on the basis vectors. The subsequent representation reliably corresponds to the media content portion over a change in a geometric orientation thereof. Repeated for other media content portions of the group, subsequent representations of the first and other portions are averaged or transformed over time. The averaged/transformed values reliably correspond to the content portion over speed changes. The initial representation may include spatial or transform related information.

    • Information is associated with media content. Upon an upload of a portion of the media content, a media fingerprint is derived therefrom. The media fingerprint includes a unique representation of the media content portion, which is derived from a characteristic component of the media content portion. The information is associated with the media content portion based on the derived media fingerprint. Upon streaming the media content portion, the associated information is linked and presented in real time with the media content portion. Upon upload of the media content portion, the media fingerprint may be derived therefrom at upload time or at any time subsequent to upload time and prior to presentation time. The media content may comprise an original instance of content or a derivative instance of the original content.
