    • An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to transfer a developer image; a processor; and memory storing computer readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, causing the image forming apparatus to: perform an image forming operation of forming an image; perform a cleaning operation of cleaning unnecessary developer of the image forming unit; in a case where existence of data of an image which is to be formed is recognized after activation of the image forming apparatus before a first image forming operation, determine whether to perform the cleaning operation; and in a case where existence of data of the image which is to be formed is not recognized after the activation of the image forming apparatus before the first image forming operation, not to perform the cleaning operation.

    • An image forming apparatus includes photosensitive members which each carry a developer image, transfer members which attract the developer images from the photosensitive members; a sheet housing unit which houses recording sheets; a recording sheet feeding mechanism, which feeds out a recording sheet from within the sheet housing unit and a guide member, which guides the sheet fed out by the recording sheet feeding mechanism towards a position between the photosensitive member and the transfer member. The guide member has a conductive member, which is brought into abutment with a leading end portion of a recording sheet while the recording sheet still remains in the sheet housing unit, and which is grounded electrically and insulation members which the recording sheet is brought into abutment when the leading end portion of the sheet reaches the transfer member.

    • The pressure between a developing roller and a photosensitive drum is set to 0.24 MPa. Because the pressure is smaller than 0.31 MPa, if the potential difference ΔV between the non-image forming part on the photosensitive drum and the electrically-charged polymer toner on the surface of the developing roller is at the preset proper voltage (300 volts), pressure fogging will be prevented. Because the pressure is 0.24 MPa or less, even if the potential difference varies within the range of 200 volts to 400 volts that occurs in practice, pressure fogging will be prevented. By resetting the pressure to 0.22 MPa, even if the potential difference ΔV varies in a wider voltage range of 100 to 400 volts, pressure fogging will be prevented. In this way, by setting the pressure between the developing roller and the photosensitive drum appropriately, pressure fogging can be prevented even when using the opposite-direction developing method and polymer toner.
