摘要： A liquid crystal display device having a first transparent insulating substrate, a second transparent insulating substrate, a liquid crystal layer having liquid crystal molecules interposed between the first and second substrates, a plurality of gate bus lines and a plurality of data bus lines formed on the first substrate, wherein an area formed by two gate bus lines intersecting two data bus lines substantially defines a unit pixel. A pixel electrode made from a transparent conductor material is arranged in each unit pixel and has a plurality of upper slits parallelly arranged at a first tilt angle and a plurality of lower slits parallelly arranged at a second tilt angle and the upper slits and the lower slits are arranged in the unit pixel as an mirror image of each other and upper slits not connected to any of the lower slits.

摘要： In a TFT type liquid crystal display device comprising first and second transparent substrates and a liquid crystal layer which is sandwiched between the first and second substrates, the first substrate includes a plurality of video signal lines, a plurality of scanning signal lines and a plurality of pixel regions which are formed as regions surrounded by the video signal lines and the scanning signal lines, each pixel region includes at least one active element, one pixel electrode and one common electrode, and color filter layers are formed between the pixel electrodes and the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal display device is substantially characterized in that the common electrodes are formed as layers above the color filters, the pixel electrodes are formed as layers below the color filters, and the color filters are superposed at least on the whole surfaces of the pixel electrodes in the pixel region.

摘要： A liquid crystal display unit in which a voltage is applied to a pixel electrode and a common signal electrode constituted by two upper and lower transparent conductive layers having insulation layers disposed therebetween so that a liquid crystal is driven to control display can improve any one or both of reduction of a writing time of the liquid crystal (reduction of a capacitance between the pixel electrode and the common signal electrode) and reduction of a driving voltage of the liquid crystal. An inter-layer insulation layer between the transparent electrodes formed of different layers is constituted by at least one or a laminated structure of a part of a gate insulation layer, a part of a surface protection layer of a thin film transistor and an applied-type insulation layer and insulation layers in an area which is positioned above the lower transparent electrode.

摘要： A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate with a liquid crystal layer therebetween, the first substrate having a plurality of drain signal lines and a plurality of gate signal lines, and a plurality of pixel regions defined by the drain signal lines and the gate signal lines. The pixel regions include a first electrode having a plurality of linear shapes, a second electrode having a planer shape, the second electrode being overlapped with the first electrode through an insulation film, and a thin film transistor having a video signal supplied thereto from the drain signal line. The first electrode is connected with the thin film transistor so that an electric potential of the video signal is supplied thereto, and a standard electric potential is supplied to the second electrode. A third electrode is arranged between the drain signal line and the liquid crystal layer.

Both the counter electrode and pixel electrode are made of a transparent conductor. The counter voltage signal line is made of metal and extends in center region in each pixel region and is directly connected to the counter electrode.
