    • Disclosed is a silver halide color photographic light-sensitive material which is capable of forming an image by: after exposing a light-sensitive material, which comprises a first support having thereon at least one photographic light-sensitive layer comprising a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion, a developing agent, a compound capable of forming a dye upon coupling reaction with an oxidation product of the developing agent and a binder; attaching said light-sensitive material to a processing material, which comprises a second support having thereon a base and/or a base precursor, in such a way that the coated surfaces of the two materials faced each other, in the presence of a small amount of water which corresponds to from {fraction (1/10)} to 1 time water necessary for giving maximum swelling of all coated layers constituting the light-sensitive material and the processing material; and then heating the light-sensitive material and the processing material, wherein at least one said light-sensitive layer contains an emulsion having silver halide grains having a silver chloride content of 50 mol % or more, wherein the silver halide grains are tabular grains having (i) a main outer surface constituted by (100) faces, (ii) having a rectangular shape with adjacent major face (projection plane) edge ratios being from 1:1 to 1:2, and (iii) having an aspect ratio of 2 or more.

    • The image forming process of the present invention includes subjecting a photosensitive material having at least one dye-forming layer for each of the three primary colors on a support to scanning exposure using light sources modulated in accordance with the image data, thereby reproducing a full color image of quality in which delicate shades in a high density color developed portion of high purity are reproduced stably. For the exposure dynamic range of the photosensitive material that the density of color generation of one dye-forming layer exhibiting the highest sensitivity to the light beam from at least one light source varies beyond the visual threshold with respect to a change of a modulation control minimum unit in the exposure quantity of said at least one light source, said one dye-forming layer is color generated by exposure to the light beam from another light source to which another dye-forming layer exhibits the highest sensitivity such that a variation of the color generation density of said one dye-forming layer may be below said visual threshold.

    • An image is formed in a color photosensitive material through scanning exposure by using at least one semiconductor laser excited solid laser including a semiconductor laser, a non-linear optical element and means for controlling the temperature thereof as a light source for producing a laser beam. The laser beam is modulated by an external modulator in accordance with the image to be formed. Among the combinations of photosensitive layers and laser beams, at least two laser beam light sources are such that a laser beam has a wavelength falling within .+-.20 nm from the maximum wavelength in the spectral sensitivity distribution of the corresponding photosensitive layer. Each photosensitive layer has a spectral sensitivity distribution with a peak width of up to 40 nm. The method enables to form an image in a conventional silver halide photosensitive material having spectral sensitivity in the visible region using a cost effective light source, the resulting image having color generated to a satisfactory density, free of a density variation, and hence of high quality.
