    • An output device is disclosed that includes an impedance matching section including an impedance adjustment section, and a dummy circuit section having the same configuration as the impedance adjustment section and adapted to calculate an adjustment value for matching an output impedance to a characteristic impedance of the transmission line. The impedance matching section sets the adjustment value to an impedance adjustment section, thereby matching the output impedance to the characteristic impedance. The output device further includes a switching transistor configured to be turned on/off so as to switch the output between an H level and an L level, and a constant current driver configured to add a constant current to the output.

    • A light source driving device which drives a plurality of light emitting parts provided in a light source to emit a plurality of light beams based on image information, includes a plurality of driving circuits configured to drive the plurality of light emitting parts. Each of the driving circuits includes a signal generation circuit that generates a modulation signal to control a light emitting intensity of the corresponding light emitting part based on the image information, a detection circuit that detects a light emitting status of the corresponding light emitting part; and a light emitting circuit that outputs a driving signal to the corresponding light emitting part to emit a light beam in accordance with the modulation signal and adjustment data obtained based on the light emitting status of at least one of the plurality of light emitting parts.

    • Hard metal particles having hardness which is lower than the hardness of a nitrided outermost layer of a spring and in the range of Hv 500 to 800 and a diameter of 500 to 900 &mgr;m are protected against the nitrided surface of the spring at a velocity of 40 to 90 m/sec to prevent generation of a microcrack in the surface layer and provide a compression residual stress comparatively deep inside the spring. Against the resultant spring surface, a number of fine metal particles having a mean diameter of all particles of 80 &mgr;m or less, a mean diameter of each particle in the range between 10 &mgr;m inclusive and less than 100 &mgr;m, a spherical or near spherical shape with no square portions, a specific gravity of 7.0 to 9.0, and hardness which falls in the range between Hv 600 and Hv 1100 inclusive and is equal to or less than the hardness of the outermost surface layer of the spring after nitriding, at a velocity of 50 to 190 m/sec., while controlling temperature to be low enough to cause work hardening but not to cause softening due to recovery/recrystallization, to provide a high compression residual stress in a near surface layer without generation of microcracks in the surface layer and thus obtain a valve spring and the like excellent in fatigue strength.

    • An automatic control apparatus in a printing press includes plate replacing units, an ink presetting portion, and a test printing control unit and a CPU. Each plate replacing unit mounts a printing plate on a circumferential surface of a plate cylinder. The ink presetting portion forms, in a roller group of an ink supply unit, an ink film thickness distribution corresponding to an image of the printing plate which is to be mounted on the plate cylinder. The test printing control unit and the CPU control the plate replacing units and the ink presetting portion to automatically perform, as a series of work steps, at least a mounting operation of mounting the printing plate on the plate cylinder and a forming operation of forming the ink film thickness distribution corresponding to the image of the printing plate.
