    • The single circuit refrigeration plant includes a housing which provides three concentrically located contiguous compartments including a first one interposed between the pressure side of the compressor and the condenser, a second one interposed between the first and the third, the third compartment being interposed between the second compartment and the evaporator. The first compartment is axially centrally located; it is directly ringed by the third compartment and is also ringed by the second compartment. In use, as the compressed gas stream enters the first compartment the pressurized oil therein separates therefrom and the resultingly de-oiled compressed gas stream flows to and through the condenser, through the fluid collector, to and through the evaporator to the third compartment in which it separates into a further liquid component which is combined with the degassed oil in the second compartment, and the remaining gas stream is returned to the suction side of the compressor, meanwhile: the oil degassed and collected in the second compartment is cooled at least in part by indirect heat transfer by contact with the third compartment and is returned to the compressor.

    • An apparatus is provided for continuously processing metal ribbon from ribbon spools of fixed capacity to form spools of processed ribbon. At a dispensing or wind-out reel a continuous metal ribbon is formed by alternately emptying spools from two different positions, joining the ribbon from alternately emptied spools, and replacing each empty spool with a full one while the other spool is being emptied. The continuous metal ribbon is provided to a processing station and, from there, is delivered to a collecting or wind-up reel where a pair of spools are alternately filled with processed ribbon and a full spool is replaced with an empty one while the other spool is being filled. A festoon tower provides a pair of elongated paths of independently variable travel length for ribbon moving, respectively, between the dispensing reel and processing station and between the processing station and collecting reel. This tower provides a continuous movement of ribbon to and from the processing station. One tower path normally stores a predetermined amount of the continuous ribbon and releases the stored ribbon to the processing station during transferring and spool-changing operations at the dispensing reel, thereby providing a supply of ribbon to the processing station during these operations. The other tower path stores ribbon from the processing station only during the transferring and spool-changing operation at the collecting reel and releases the stored ribbon to the collecting reel thereafter, thereby guaranteeing a continuous withdrawal of ribbon from the processing station during these operations.

    • A hose coupling wherein the ends of two hoses are connected to tubular valve bodies having axially extending passages with annular valve seats which face the respective hoses and are normally engaged by disk-shaped elastic valve elements under the action of helical valve springs. A tubular member is reciprocably installed in one valve body at the open end of the respective passage and has a centrally located collar which is flanked by elastic sealing rings. When the two bodies are coupled to each other by a bayonet lock, one end of the tubular member lifts the valve element in the other body off the respective seat and the other end of the tubular member then lifts the valve element in the one body off the respective seat under the action of the valve spring in the other body. When the two bodies are disconnected from each other, the valve spring in the one body engages the respective valve element with the adjacent seat and shifts the tubular member with respect to the one body. The ring at one side of the collar seals the passage of the one body from the atmosphere in all positions of the tubular member, and the ring at the other side of the collar seals the passage of the other body from the atmosphere during and subsequent to coupling of the two bodies to each other.
