    • The present invention provides a method for selective and high-yield separation, concentration, and recovery of desired cells from a blood sample. The method of the present invention is characterized in that the blood sample is caused to interact with lectins under conditions in which the cell membranes are inactive and cell-lectin complexes/non-complexes are formed, the sample containing these cell-lectin complexes/non-complexes is incubated together with a substrate, the surface of which is covered with polymers having carbohydrate chains which are specifically recognized by the lectins, and the cells are immobilized on the surface of the substrate via the lectins, and subsequently, the liquid layer and the solid phase are separated, and the desired blood cells are recovered from the liquid phase and/or the solid phase, and these lectins are present in such an amount that although the cells to be recovered from the solid phase bind to the solid phase with the polymer, the cells to be recovered from the liquid phase do not bind to the solid phase with the polymer.

    • This invention provides a multi-fan system separated core engine type turbofan engine in which high pressure air is used as the working fluid for a turbine which drives a fan, thereby reducing the manufacturing costs of the turbofan engine and simplifying the constitution thereof. A turbine for driving a fan 11 which is provided in a propulsion device 3 of the multi-fan system separated core engine type turbofan engine 1 is an air turbine 13 which is driven by the supply through a duct 9 of a part of high pressure air compressed in a compressor 5 of a core engine 2. Since the working fluid of the air turbine 13 for driving the fan 11 is not high temperature combustion gas, there is no need to use expensive heat-resistant material for the turbine, and thus the propulsion device 3 can be manufactured at low cost, the constitution thereof can be simplified, and operational control can be ameliorated.

    • An electrical testing device is provided for testing integrated circuits located on a wafer. The testing device employs a multi-layer test circuit having a plurality of contacts for contacting the integrated circuits on a wafer. The layers of the test circuit are embedded in a flexible, supportive dielectric material which allows vertical flexing of the contacts. Cross bar switches are further employed to switch among the plurality of contacts thereby enabling the testing of individual dies of the water to be tested. A microprocessor is further included for controlling the switching and the testing of each die. In an alternate embodiment, the plurality of contacts are mechanically moved relative to the wafer to allow testing of the dies without the need for the switches.

    • A refrigerator comprises a cassette accommodating section which is enclosed by a wall, kept at a low temperature, and capable of accommodating a film feed cassette in such a way that it can be released therefrom. The film feed cassette houses therein a long test film containing a reagent which will react with a liquid sample and give rise to a change in optical density. The film feed cassette has a film outlet through which the long test film is fed out. The refrigerator has a film outlet which is formed in the wall at a position corresponding to the position of the film outlet of the film feed cassette and through which the long test film is pulled out. An air stream jetting system jets dry air to the surface of the portion of the long test film positioned between the film outlet of the film feed cassette and the film outlet of the refrigerator. The air stream jetting system comprises a device wherein two air drying chambers are alternately operated, which allows dry air to be generated approximately continuously, and wet air does not enter a dry air feed-out path even for an instant.
