    • A reciprocating linear actuator capable of reciprocatingly driving a plurality of movable elements (2 and 2) by a single stator (1). The movable elements (2 and 2) are connected to each other through a connection body (3) having a spring characteristic to be capable of displacement in the reciprocating direction of the movable element. The connection body (3) has such a shape that can be drawn with a single stroke on a two dimensional plane, and at least both ends thereof are connected to the movable elements (2 and 2), respectively. Since the connection body (3) is made of a flat spring, it requires less space for installation as compared to a connection body formed of a coiled spring. Further, since the entire connection body has an effective spring characteristic, a relatively smaller size is required for the connection body to provide a required spring characteristic. The less installation space for the connection body (3) is advantageous to a reduction in size of the linear actuator.

    • There is disclosed a video camera which has a normal moving image sensing mode, and a still image sensing mode for sensing an image on a negative film set in a film adapter attached as a still image. An optical image of a subject is photoelectrically converted into an image signal, and whether or not the subject is a negative film is detected on the basis of a predetermined signal component in the image signal. If it is detected that the subject is the negative film, the still image sensing mode starts while setting signal processing in a negative/positive conversion mode and setting the focal length of the lens system at the wide-angle position.

    • To provide a nondestructive inspection apparatus with a reduced distance between a superconducting magnetic sensor and an object under inspection, a cryostat for cooling the sensor to a superconducting state is provided with inner and outer vessels. The inner vessel has a baseplate on which the magnetic sensor is disposed, and has an inner wall defining a central chamber for containing a refrigerant for cooling the magnetic sensor. The outer vessel has an inner wall defining a central chamber for containing the inner vessel, the magnetic sensor and the stage. A gap between the inner and outer vessels is evacuated to insulate the inner chamber from the ambient atmosphere. To facilitate ease of transferring an object to and from the stage for inspection, a load lock area is provided adjoining the outer vessel. The load lock has a movable inner wall portion opening to the inner chamber of the outer vessel and a movable outer wall portion opening to the ambient atmosphere so as to permit the transfer of an object to be inspected to and from the stage.

    • A miniature diaphragm pump comprises a motor having an output shaft rotating about its axis, an eccentric pin fixed in eccentric relation to the axis of the output shaft, a drive member connected to the eccentric pin to be driven thereby to reciprocate in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the output shaft, at least one pump chamber disposed radially outwardly of the drive element with respect to the axis of the output shaft and having inlet and outlet valves. Each pump chamber has one diaphragm surface with a rigid joint rod and is connected with the drive member through the joint rod. The reciprocating motion of the drive member is transmitted to each pump chamber such that one pumping action including a compression step and an inflation step is provided to the respective pump chamber during one revolution of the eccentric pin about the output shaft. In addition, since the drive member is reciprocated in the direction perpendicular to the output shaft, it is not necessary to take a large space between the motor and each pump chamber for obtaining the reciprocating motion of the drive member, so that the diaphragm pump as a whole becomes to be small.

    • An apparatus for detecting a fine magnetic field comprises a DC SQUID which detects and converts a magnetic field to an electrical signal. A flux locked looped circuit drives the DC SQUID. The flux locked loop circuit includes an amplifier for amplifying the electrical signal. A phase detector modulates the amplified electrical signal and an integration circuit outputs a voltage signal corresponding to the detected magnetic field. An oscillator coupled to the phase detector supplies a demodulation frequency signal. A modulator including a first voltage-to-current converter and a second voltage-to-current converter is coupled with the integration circuit and the oscillator for supplying a modulation signal to the DC SQUID. The modulator further includes an external input terminal and a feedback modulation change-over circuit for changing an internal feedback signal to an external test signal inputted to the external input terminal. A bias source having a third voltage-to-current converter is coupled to the DC SQUID and supplies a bias signal. The bias source also includes an external input terminal and a change-over circuit for changing an internal bias signal to an external test signal inputted to the second external input terminal. An external output terminal is connected to the amplifier for supplying a monitoring test output signal from the DC SQUID. The apparatus for detecting a fine magnetic field thus provides a self-testing function for the DC SQUID.
