    • A portable information processing apparatus, having a detachable liquid crystal display panel/input tablet, whereof the liquid crystal display panel/input tablet can be detached from the apparatus even when the main body is powered on, i.e., is being operated. The portable information processing apparatus comprises: support means for detachably supporting a liquid crystal display panel on a main body; detection means for detecting detachment/attachment of the liquid crystal display panel; and first and second connectors for providing a connection for video signal lines and a power line that connect the liquid crystal display panel and the main body. When the liquid crystal display panel is detached from the main body, the first and the second connectors can communicate with each other via a cable. When the detection means detects that the liquid crystal display panel has been detached, the output of video signals from the main body to the display panel is disabled, and then the power supply to the liquid crystal display panel is halted (local suspend). As a result, the disorderly open state of the signal output line and the power line to the display panel is avoided, and the deterioration of hardware is prevented. In parallel to the local suspend operation, the main body of the apparatus saves data required for the resumption of a task, and halts the operation of the entire system (system suspend).

    • In enlarging dot matrix data stored in an original memory on a work memory, it is discriminated whether or not a data write position overlaps the position of already-produced data. If no overlapping occurs, the data is written as it is in the work memory. If overlapping occurs, it is then discriminated whether or not the color of a dot in the original memory to be processed is the same as that of a dot adjacent to the target dot. If the colors are the same, data is written at positions except the overlapped portion. In other words, data already written at the overlapped position is given a priority. On the other hand, if the dots are of different colors, data at the overlapped portion is temporarily cleared and data is written at positions including the overlapped portion.

    • A roll medium lifting device of a recording apparatus includes: an elevating unit that has a loading unit therein and can be raised and lowered in the vertical direction; an operation lever that is rotatable about a fulcrum; and a cam that performs force transmission by converting rotational movement of the operation lever in the vertical direction to vertical movement of the elevating unit at a position closer to the fulcrum in the operation lever. Further, when the operation lever is rotated to cause the cam to move the elevating unit upward, a portion of the cam that makes contact with the elevating unit faces to the moving direction when the elevating unit is moved upward.
