    • An apparatus for processing an audio signal and method thereof are disclosed. The apparatus comprises an information receiving unit receiving a downmix signal including and a plurality of preset informations; an external preset information receiving unit receiving a plurality of external preset informations being inputted from external; an external preset applying-determining unit determining whether the plurality of the external preset informations applies to the downmix signal; an external preset information selecting unit selecting one external preset information, if the plurality of external preset informations is selected; and a rendering unit controlling the object by applying the external preset information to the all data regions.Accordingly, an audio signal can be efficiently reconstructed by individually selecting and applying external preset information by a data region unit or by selecting and applying the same external preset information to a whole downmix signal. And, feedback information can be received from a user by displaying an object adjusted by having external preset rendering parameter applied thereto on a screen, according to a characteristic of an audio source.

    • An apparatus for processing an audio signal and method thereof are disclosed. The preset invention includes receiving a downmix signal including at least one object, preset information to render the downmix signal and preset attribute information indicating attribute of the preset information; rendering the downmix signal by applying the preset information to all data regions of the downmix signal, if the preset information is included in a configuration information region based on the preset attribute information; and rendering the downmix signal by applying the preset information to one corresponding data region of the downmix signal, if the preset information is included in a data region based on the preset attribute information, wherein the preset information is obtained based on preset number information indicating a number of the preset information and output channel information indicating a number of output channel of the rendered downmix signal. Accordingly, one of a plurality of preset information is selected using a plurality of preset metadata without user's setting on each object, whereby a level of an output channel of an object can be adjusted with ease.

    • An apparatus for processing an encoded signal and method thereof are disclosed, by which an audio signal can be compressed and reconstructed in higher efficiency.An audio signal processing method includes the steps of identifying whether a type of an audio signal is a music using first type information, if the type of the audio signal is not the music signal, identifying whether the type of the audio signal is a speech signal or a mixed signal using second type information, and if the type of the audio signal is determined as either the speech signal or the mixed signal, reconstructing the audio signal according to a coding scheme applied per frame using coding identification information. If the type of the audio signal is the music signal, the first type information is received only. If the type of the audio signal is the speech signal or the mixed signal, both of the first type information and the second type information are received.Accordingly, various kinds of audio signals can be encoded/decoded in higher efficiency.
