    • There is provided an antenna element capable of implementing miniaturization, acquisition of a high gain, and broadening of a band and coping with multiple bands. The antenna element includes a first antenna element 5 having shape of a box (a rectangular-parallelepiped shape) in which a first conductor plate 51, a second conductor plate 52, and a third conductor plate 53 are arranged so as to define at least three surfaces of a substantial rectangular parallelepiped and in which electric power is fed from a substantial corner of a lower circuit board (a ground plate) 21 to the first conductor plate 51; and a second antenna element 6 having shape of a box (a rectangular-parallelepiped shape) in which a fourth conductor plate 61, a fifth conductor plate 62, and a sixth conductor plate 63 are arranged so as to define at least three surfaces of a substantial rectangular parallelepiped, the fourth conductor plate 61 being connected by way of a resonance circuit 7 to the first antenna element 5 at a portion thereof apart from a feeding point of the first antenna element 5.

    • There are provided an antenna element and a portable radio that enable miniaturization, acquisition of a high gain, and broadening of a band and that copies compatible with multiple bands. A rectangular-parallelepiped-shaped antenna element is formed by folding two or more faces of a board-shaped monopole element having an rectangular shape so that the antenna element has a substantially rectangular first conductor plate 51 disposed in proximity to a hinge 4 while arranged at a predetermined space S from a lower circuit board (ground plate) 21, a substantially rectangular second conductor plate 52 that shares a widthwise one side of the first conductor plate 51 and that is arranged while bent to an angle of about 90° with respect to the first conductor plate, and a substantially rectangular third conductor plate 53 that shares another widthwise side of the second conductor plate 52 opposing the side shared by the first conductor plate 51 and the second conductor plate 52 and that is arranged at an angle of about 90° so as to oppose the first conductor plate 51.

    • Disclosed is a portable wireless terminal wherein deterioration in antenna performance when placed on a metal desk or other structure can be prevented without sacrificing designability and without increasing the number of components. In this terminal, a hinge part (103) functions as an antenna which resonates at a frequency of a first wireless system (150). A whip antenna (112) faces the surface of a first circuit board (104) that is opposite the surface faced by an input device (115), is disposed substantially parallel to the first circuit board (104), and resonates at a frequency of a second wireless system (160). A second contact spring (110) electrically connects a second wireless circuit (108) to the antenna element of a whip antenna (112) and is disposed perpendicularly to the first circuit board (104). A switch (113) grounds the whip antenna (112) and second contact spring (110) to the first circuit board (104) when the second wireless system (160) is not operating.

    • A multi-band antenna can be realized by using a common antenna element with a simple configuration. A radio antenna unit includes a ground conductor plate 1 provided to a casing of a radio device and having a ground potential, a first radio circuit 2 handling a system in a first frequency band and a second radio circuit 3 handling a system in a second frequency band lower than the first frequency band, which are provided in the ground conductor plate 1, a first feeding line 4 connected to the first radio circuit 2 and being a coaxial transmission line having an outer conductor 5 that is arranged along the ground conductor plate 1, an antenna element 6 connected to the first feeding line 4 and the outer conductor 5 respectively, and arranged along the ground conductor plate 1, and a second feeding line 7 for connecting the second radio circuit 3 and the outer conductor 5, wherein the first feeding line 4 feeds a high frequency power input from the first radio circuit 2 and the second feeding line 7 feeds a high frequency power input from the second radio circuit 3.
