    • To detect boundaries between the content of a telecast, for example, and commercial messages, included in the telecast, highly accurately when the user is deleting the commercial messages. A data processor includes: a picture level detecting section, which receives a video signal including a plurality of pictures and detects the signal level of a predetermined one of the pictures based on the signal; a frame memory section for storing the data of the pictures; and a controller for adding index information. The picture level detecting section specifies a video changing point by reference to the respective signal levels of multiple consecutive pictures and the controller adds the index information to a data location, corresponding to the changing point, in a data stream.

    • A data processor includes: a stream extracting section for acquiring a first data stream and then a second data stream; a packet inserting section, which makes a dummy packet, having a dummy identifier that is different from any of the identifiers of packets in a stream, and which inserts the dummy packet between the last packet of the first data stream and the first packet of the second data stream; a splitting section for splitting content data into respective types according to the packet identifiers and inserting error data, which is different from the content data, upon the detection of the dummy identifier; and a decoder, which plays back the content data of the data stream on the basis of a playback unit and, on detecting the error data, discards incomplete content data at the end of the first data stream and a portion of the content data of the second data stream up to the first header thereof such that those content data are not played back.

    • A recording apparatus for recording digital signals to plural tracks formed sequentially on a tape using plural heads includes a first selector for selecting the first through n track sets, continuous tracks within the plural tracks formed on the tape.     • An apparatus for shaping a metallic pull ring and simultaneously connecting it to a container closure is disclosed. The apparatus includes a pre-shaped article former for shearing with a rotary shearing blade a rectangular metal blank from the end portion of a thin metal strip and simultaneously blending it to form an annular pre-shaped article having overlapped opposite ends, a closure feeder as well as a pre-shaped article feeder for continuously positioning a container closure and the pre-shaped article to a rotating support member in such a relation that the free end portion of a tear-off tab of the closure and a part of the pre-shaped article overlap each other and a pull ring shaper and connecter for curling the peripheral edge of the pre-shaped article in the radial direction to form it into a ring and simultaneously rolling the tear-off tab into said ring and connecting them to each other.
