    • A technique is provided for use by a user terminal or mobile services switching centre (MSC) for responding to a request to switch an on-going call from speech mode to multimedia mode within a wireless communication network conFig.d to automatically disconnect a call if a requested mode switch is not confirmed within a predetermined period of time specified by a call drop timer. In one example, the terminal or MSC activities an automatic response timer upon receipt of a request from a user to switch an on-going call from speech to multimedia, with the timer set shorter than the call drop timer. The user receiving the request is then prompted to accept or decline the request. If no response is received before expiration of the automatic response timer, the terminal or MSC automatically declines the request on behalf of the user so that the call drop timer does not expire.

    • The present invention relates generally to telecommunication services and, in particular, to a system and method of managing a call, particularly with regard to a modification to bearer characteristics. In one aspect the invention provides a method and system of managing a call in a telecommunication system, the telecommunication system including a network having at least one call controller effecting a call control function and at least one bearer controller effecting a bearer control function, the call controller and the bearer controller separated by a vertical control protocol interface, including providing in at least one message, communicated within the telecommunication system, an indication of the capability of the at least one bearer controller to modify a characteristic of a bearer; and receiving and storing said indication in the at least one call controller. In another aspect the invention provides a media gateway controller being operable to request indications and to receive indications from at least one media gateway of the capability of the at least one media gateway to modify a characteristic of a bearer established by the at least media gateway. In a preferred embodiment the invention provides a media gateway controller operable to receive requests for an indication of the capability of the at least one media gateway to modify a characteristic of a bearer established by the media gateway.

    • Whole grain, such as wheat, barley, rye, and/or rice, can be processed by (a) steeping the grain in an aqueous liquid to produce softened grain, (b) milling the softened grain to produce milled grain, (c) liquefying the milled grain by contacting it with amylase and heating it to a temperature of at least about 50° C., producing a liquefied material, (d) at least partially saccharifying the liquefied material by contacting it with amyloglucosidase at a temperature of at least about 50° C., producing a first saccharified material, and (e) separating fiber and germ from the first saccharified material, producing a screened material that is substantially free of fiber and germ. The process also includes the steps of (f) further saccharifying and fermenting the screened material with a microorganism that produces ethanol, thereby producing a broth that comprises ethanol, soluble protein, and insoluble protein, and (g) separating ethanol from the broth. A protein-rich product can be recovered from the broth that comprises both gluten from the grain and microorganism from the fermenting step.

The first solvent phase comprises a majority (more than 50 wt %) of the solvent extractant and a majority of the glycerol that was present in the aqueous feed composition. The weight ratio in the first solvent phase of glycerol to a contaminant present is greater than the weight ratio of glycerol to the contaminant in the aqueous feed composition. The first aqueous phase comprises a majority of the water from the aqueous feed composition and at least some of the contaminant from the aqueous feed composition.

    • A subsea intervention system is disclosed comprising a floating vessel and a source of coiled tubing at the floating vessel. The system includes a seabed installation including a wellhead and compliant guide having one end operatively connected to the floating vessel and the second end operatively connected to the seabed installation. The compliant guide provides a conduit between the floating vessel and the wellhead for the coiled tubing. At least one injector is present at the floating vessel for inserting the coiled tubing into the compliant guide, and a carousel is proximate the wellhead which comprises a plurality of chambers with intervention tools in at least two of those chambers. The system may also include a plurality of sensing units that are disposed at spaced intervals along the compliant guide to monitor various aspects of the compliant guide and to transmit that information to a repositioning system. A riser may be used instead of the compliant guide.
