    • An electrical terminal is adapted for use with an electrical conductor. The terminal has a terminating portion with a generally U-shaped cross-section having a web and a pair of sidewalls extending from two opposite longitudinal edges of the web. The sidewalls are generally trapezoidally shaped with relatively wide bases, joined to the longitudinal edges of the web, and relatively narrow tips. The bases are transversely aligned across the web. The tips are offset across the web so that the tips are spaced longitudinally of the web. Therefore, the tips will bypass each other when crimped toward each other to terminate the electrical conductor, all within the longitudinal confines of the bases of the sidewalls.

    • A retention system is provided for an electrical connector adapted to be mounted on the surface of a printed circuit board. The connector includes a housing having a circuit board mounting face. At least one retention member is provided for securing the connector to the printed circuit board. The retention member is generally U-shaped defining a pair of leg sections extending generally perpendicular to the circuit board and a bight section joining the leg sections generally parallel to the circuit board. The bight section defines a pad for solder connection to a solder pad on the circuit board, and the bight section has a given width transverse to the U-shaped profile of the retention member. A recess in the circuit board mounting face of the connector housing is complementarily shaped for receiving at least one of the leg sections of the retention member in an interference fit therewith. The one leg section is narrower than the given width of the bight section. At least one stabilizing flange projects from the bight section into a complementarily shaped recess in the circuit board mounting face. The stabilizing flange is coplanar with, narrower and shorter than the one leg section.

    • An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, conductive terminals mounted therein, and a conductive shield generally covering the housing. A shelf of the housing supports a portion of the shield. Each terminal has a main body, a front contact portion extending from an end of the main body and capable of engagement with contacts of a battery, a rear contact portion extending from an end of the main body and capable of engagement with contacts of an electronic device, and a tail portion extending perpendicularly from the main body. The tail portion is positioned between the front and rear contact portions. The front contact portion is capable of deflecting along a plane defined by a centerline of the main body.

    • A method for releasing a stuck drill string in the borehole of an underground formation employing an non-aqueous drilling fluid, the illustrative method including contacting the stuck drill string with a non-emulsion based, homogeneous additive composition effective in reducing the annular pressure exerted by the drilling fluid or mud cake against the stuck drill string and releasing the stuck drill string, the additive composition formulated to include a mutual solvent and a viscosifying agent. Alternatively and preferably, the mutual solvent may be selected from the group consisting of: diethylene glycol, propoxy propanol, butyl cellosolve, butyl carbitol and mixtures or combinations of these and similar compounds known to one of skill in the art. A further illustrative embodiment includes a solid weighting agent, preferably the solid weighting agent is selected from the group galena, hematite, magnetite, iron oxides, illmenite, barite, siderite, celestite, dolomite, calcite, and mixtures or combinations of these and similar compounds known to one of skill in the art.

    • A low profile blade receiving electrical connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a blade insertion cavity which extends generally parallel to the printed circuit board. A pair of generally U-shaped terminals are mounted on the housing, with one terminal nested within the other terminal. Each terminal includes a pair of side walls joined by a connecting beam. The side walls are generally perpendicular to and electrically connected to the circuit board. The connecting beams are generally parallel to the circuit board. The connecting beams of the two terminals are spaced from each other for receiving a terminal blade therebetween. The connecting beams have contact portions exposed in the blade insertion cavity of the housing for engaging opposite sides of the terminal blade.
