    • A method and system for in-vehicle notification of a failed message delivery for use with a vehicle email notification system in which triggers are used to initiate the generation and transmission of email messages that provide diverse types of dynamic vehicle information to the owner or other authorized subscriber. The email notifications are triggered by different events, some of which are independent of the vehicle (e.g., a monthly trigger), and others of which occur at the vehicle, such as a mileage or low oil life trigger. The notification system builds and sends to the subscriber an email message that contains the dynamic vehicle information and identifies any detected vehicle condition for which action is needed. If delivery of the email fails, a call is placed to the vehicle to inform the driver or other occupant of the failed attempt so that corrective action can be taken.

    • A system and method that enables a user of a telematics-equipped vehicle to initiate security services by activating their vehicle keyfob. If a user senses an emergency situation, such as a person breaking into their home, they can engage a panic button on their vehicle keyfob. This causes the vehicle to send a wireless warning signal to a call center which already has emergency contact numbers on file. The call center can then call the user to see if they require assistance from a police department, fire department, ambulance, etc. In one embodiment, the method also determines if the vehicle is currently located within a certain proximity of one or more designated locations (usually the user's home or work) before contacting the user. This can reduce responses to non-emergencies, such as when a user simply presses their panic button in order to locate their vehicle in a crowded parking lot.

    • A remotely configurable telematics unit cache provides for selective caching of data of interest to a remote caller. The configurable caching system ensures that selected data is available when the vehicle is not in operation and the telematics unit is not powered on. A remote caller can remotely configure the telematics unit cache to selectively store data of interest. Subsequently, the telematics module can accept calls from the caller and the cached information can be pulled. Thus, the configurable cache allows a remote caller to selectively and positively configure the cache to store desired data to be later uploaded without requiring a call-back from the telematics unit and without limiting the cached data to predetermined data groups.

    • The invention provides a method and system for remotely inventorying electronic modules installed in a vehicle. A vehicle telematics unit sends an identification request to at least one electronic module. The telematics unit receives at least one electronic module identifier in response to the request. The identifier includes the serial number and software revision for the electronic module. The received identifier is transmitted from the telematics unit to a call center. The call center, or a quality center to which the call center sends the transmitted identifier, determines if the transmitted identifier corresponds with an identifier included in an electronic module identifier database. The database includes an identifier for each module that is intended to be installed in the vehicle. A quality assurance notice is sent based on the determination, indicating either that the correct module is installed in the vehicle or that an incorrect module must be replaced.

    • The present invention provides a method for managing telematics unit within a telematics equipped mobile vehicle based on vehicle power level. The method includes receiving at least one mobile vehicle sensor input, determining a mobile vehicle system power value based on the at least one received vehicle sensor input, and operating the telematics unit based on the determined mobile vehicle system power value. The step of operating the telematics unit based on the determined mobile vehicle system power value may include comparing the determined mobile vehicle system power value to a mobile vehicle system target power level, determining if the difference between the mobile vehicle system power value and the mobile vehicle system target power level exceeds a system power level threshold, and initiating a standard operating mode interrupt when the system power level threshold is exceeded.
