摘要： Data from a plurality of communications is transmitted in a code division multiple access communication system. The transmitted communications are received at a receiver and converted into a baseband signal. The baseband signal is sampled to produce a received vector. An estimating device estimates channel responses as a channel response matrix and estimates a noise variance of the received communications. The noise variance is then scaled using a scaling factor derived from at least one gain factor determined for at least one received communication. The received communications are then equalized using the channel response matrix and the scaled noise variance to produce a spread data vector. The spread data vector is despread in order to detect data transmitted as part of the received communications. In an alternate embodiment, the channel response matrix is scaled instead of the noise variance.

摘要： A wireless communication system, method and apparatus are provided for soft and softer handover of a mobile wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) between two or more base stations and/or base station sectors. A network control unit assigns selected base stations to transmit communication data to the WTRU based on the WTRU being disposed in base station or base station sector geographic range of service. A WTRU joint detector (JD) receiver is configured to receive and process one or more wireless data signals in each of a series of timeframes where each signal received within a common timeslot has a unique channel encoding of the same communication data. The JD receiver has a plurality of channel estimators that estimate received signals within a common timeslot and a combiner configured to decode and combine the channel estimates to derive a resultant data signal.

摘要： In a time-division duplex (TDD) system, a reliable initialization scheme that is applicable to an automatic gain controller (AGC) at a base station is implemented in various forms depending on the availability of certain information such as signal-to-interference ratio (SIR), spreading factors and other parameters. A more accurate estimation of the initial control word of a gain-adjustable amplifier for one or more time slots is implemented. The scheme is applicable to AGC initialization for each time slot of the TDD system, but is also applicable to other systems of transmission, without limitation.

摘要： The transmission and decoding of resource blocks (RBs) transmitted via a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna having a plurality of transmit antennas is disclosed. Each RB includes a plurality of resource elements (REs). Each RE is reserved for one of a common reference signal (CRS) associated with one of the transmit antennas, a dedicated reference signal (DRS) including a single beamformed or precoded pilot, a DRS including a composite beamformed or precoded pilot, and a data symbol. Each RB may include a “control type” data symbol that indicates a DRS mode associated with the RB. In one DRS mode, each DRS includes a single beamformed or precoded pilot. In another DRS mode, each DRS includes a composite beamformed or precoded pilot. In yet another DRS mode, single beamformed or precoded pilots, and composite beamformed or precoded pilots, may coexist and be transmitted simultaneously within the same RBs or in different RBs.

The spread data vector is despread to recover the data of the received wireless signal.

摘要： A method and apparatus for measuring and reporting a rank and/or a precoding matrix for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication are disclosed. A metric indicating a channel condition is measured and a rank is selected based on the metric. The metric may be a signal-to-interference and noise ratio (SINR), throughput, a block error rate (BLER), system capacity, a sum rate, or the like. An SINR for each radio block group (RBG) for each rank is calculated. A data rate is calculated for each RBG based on the SINR for each rank. An overall rate for all RBGs is calculated for each rank. At least one rank is selected based on the overall rate. At least one precoding matrix may be selected jointly with or separately from the at least one rank.

摘要： An automatic gain control (AGC) method according to the present invention applies an initial gain by a digital AGC circuit in a timeslot is determined using a final calculated gain from the same timeslot in the previous frame together with an offset factor. An erase function is activated for a given data sample block when the number of saturated data samples that are detected within the block exceeds a threshold value. The power measurement made by the AGC circuit and used to update the gain is adjusted based on the number of measured data samples that are saturated. These elements provide a gain limiting function and allows limiting of the dynamic range for further signal processing.
