    • A multistep automatic transmission having an input shaft, an output shaft, three planetary gearsets and five shifting elements. A sun gear of the third planetary gearset is affixed above the first shifting element to a transmission housing. The input shaft is bound to a sun gear of the second planetary gearset and is bound above the second shifting element with a sun gear of the first planetary gearset and/or by way of the fifth shifting element with a link of the first planetary gearset. The output shaft is bound together with the internal gear of the first planetary gearset and one of the links of the second or third planetary gearset. The second planetary gearset is located in the middle of the three planetary gearsets and is placed beside the third planetary gearset. The second and fifth shifting elements are placed between the first and second planetary gearsets.

    • A method for setting a multiplication of a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT transmission) comprises the following steps: a) it is determined in a test module (M1, M1′) whether an operating situation is present in which a program module (M2, M2′) for adapting an existing transmission multiplication (i_v_ist) to a vehicle speed (v_F) or to an output rotational speed (n_ab) of the transmission is activated; in the negative a transmission specified multiplication (i_v_stratagy, i_v_start) is determined as new transmission specified multiplication (i_v_soll) from a characteristic field for a regular driving strategy; b) it is tested in the program module (M2, M2′) whether the vehicle speed (v_F) or the output rotational speed (n_ab) of the transmission is higher than a predetermined limiting value (v_F_limit, n_ab_limit); c) in the case of a positive inquiry, a predefined transmission specified multiplication (i_v_ABS, i_start_w) assigned to the determined operating state is set as new transmission specified multiplication (i_v_soll) when the starting clutch is activated; in the case of a negative inquiry, a processing function (F4, F17) is begun in order at least partly open a starting clutch and the transmission specified multiplication (i_v_ABS, i_start_w) assigned to the determined operating state is set as a new transmission specified multiplication (i_v_soll).

    • The invention concerns an automatic controlled transmission having a hydrodynamic converter (1) and a lock-up clutch (10) between an input shaft (7) and an output shaft (8) of the converter (1) wherein the lock-up clutch (10) is actuated by the differential pressure between an intake (14) and return flow (15) of the converter (1) and traversed by a coolant current. It is proposed that the coolant flow be controlled depending on the temperature of the oil. Thereby the transmitting capacity of the lock-up clutch (10) when engaged state is not impaired even when for cooling a larger coolant flow rate through the converter (1) is provided.
