    • A lead chuck of a mechanical pencil to be assembled into a lead feeding mechanism of a rear end knock type, an automatic lead feeding type and an extremity end knock type mechanical pencil in which it is arranged within the sleeve through a resilient member in such a way as it may be advanced or retracted. A lead holding part is formed at the extremity end portions of the divided surfaces of the chuck members which are fully divided into two sections along an axial plane. The lead holding part is formed with several teeth for use in holding the lead under four-point or six-point contacted condition within axially formed grooves made at the central portions of the divided surfaces. The teeth are projected in several rows and formed at the raised surfaces of the grooves. Stepped partial circumferential projections are projected and formed at the central part of the raised parts of the front portions of the semi-circumferential flange which are projected and formed at the outer circumference at the rear ends of the chuck members. Other stepped projections are formed at both end portions of the raised rear surfaces of the opposite sides of the flange, thereby the extremity end of the lead supplying cylinder extremity end receiving element is abutted against the rear raised surface of the flange part from the rear end side of the lead chuck. Forces applied from both directions, when the front raised surface of the flange part receive the rear end of the resilient member installed between it and the sleeve, are utilized and each of the chuck members generates a flexing phenomenon and the chuck members may then perform an instantaneous expanding operation under this flexing force.

    • A mechanical pencil wherein a lead is propelled through a lead insertion tube provided at the forward end of the pencil body by the propulsion of a lead sustaining and feeding mechanism consisting of a chuck and the like, the mechanical pencil also having a lead protective device wherein a thin film made of an elastic material, such as rubber, synthetic resin or the like, is provided over the whole length of the inner surface of the lead insertion tube so that the lead is permitted to pass therethrough with ease, the elastic thin film being adapted to have a relatively greater thickness at the forward end part of the lead insertion tube so as to form a lead sustaining portion, the elasticity of the lead sustaining portion precluding the lead from slipping out due to own weight when released from the lead sustaining and feeding mechanism thereby minimizing the loss of lead.

    • A double-chuck mechanical pencil comprises: a barrel; a barrel cap attached to the barrel; a lead tank axially slidably inserted in the barrel; a back chuck fixedly joined to the front end of the lead tank; a chuck ring loosely fitted on the chucking head of the back chuck; a tubular member disposed so as to surround the front portion of the lead tank; a back elastic member placed in the tubular member so as to bias the lead tank backward; a coupling member combined with the tubular member, and provided in its inner circumference with stopping portions with which the tubular member and the chuck ring come into contact, respectively; a front chuck fixedly joined to the front portion of the coupling member; and a front elastic member interposed between the barrel cap and the coupling member so as to bias the coupling member backward. A rotation prohibitor permits the axial movement of the coupling member and prohibits the rotation of the same relative to the tubular member. A tail cap is attached to the back end of the barrel and a push cap is detachably put on the back end of the lead tank. Another rotation prohibitor permits the axial movement of the push cap and prohibits the rotation of the same relative to the tail cap.

    • A bar extruding implement extrudes a bar, such as a lead, a lipstick or the like, gradually and is capable of automatically ejecting a marginal portion of the bar. A projection formed on a sliding member inserted in an inner tube slides along a helical groove formed in the inner circumference of a barrel to advance the sliding member when a rotational operating head is turned to turn the inner tube in one direction, whereby a bar holder holding a bar is advanced gradually toward the front end of the barrel to extrude the bar from the front end of the barrel. Upon the arrival of the bar holder at a disengaging position, the sliding member is disengaged from the bar holder and advances forward through the bar holder when the inner tube is turned further after the bar holder has arrived at the disengaging position to eject a marginal portion of the bar remaining on the bar holder.

    • A stick-shaped material propelling device is comprised of a first tubular body and a spiral shaft inserted in the first tubular body. The spiral shaft has a spiral groove on the circumference of spiral shaft and an integral guide portion at a rear portion of the spiral shaft. The guide portion engages an inside portion of the first tubular body so that the guide portion is unturnable, but is movable in the axial direction relative to the first tubular body. A holder for holding a stick-shaped material is provided at a front portion of the spiral shaft. A second tubular body is turnably mounted on the first tubular body. The second tubular body has a projection on the inside of a rear portion of second tubular body. The spiral shaft and the holder are inserted into the second tubular body so as to be able to slide in the second tubular body with the projection engaging the spiral groove. At least one slit is formed around the projection on the second tubular body or in an end portion of the spiral shaft.
