    • A method of controlling access to network services enables an authorized proxy client to access a service on behalf of a user. To permit the client to function as a proxy, the user registers proxy authorization information with a trusted security server. The proxy authorization information identifies the proxy client and specifies the extent of proxy authority granted to the proxy client. When the proxy client wants to access a target service on behalf of the user, it sends a proxy request to the trusted security server. The trusted security server checks the proxy authorization information of the user to verify whether the request is within the proxy authority granted to the proxy client. If so, the trusted security server returns to the proxy client a data structure containing information recognizable by the target service to authenticate the proxy client for accessing the target service on behalf of the user.

    • According to one embodiment, an isolation barrier comprises a transformer and a controlled impedance module. The system side device generates an amplitude modulated clock signal when the system side device is in a transmit mode, and generates an unmodulated clock signal when the system side device is in a receive mode. When the system side device is in the receive mode, the controlled impedance module modulates, according to the data being transmitted by the line side device, the unmodulated clock signal incoming from the system side device. The transformer is utilized in bidirectional data transfer to provide the line side device with the amplitude modulated clock signal generated by the system side device, while providing the system side device with the amplitude modulated clock signal generated by the controlled impedance module and the line side device.

    • A coal cutting machine 13, a conveyor 12 and a plurality of mine roof supports 10 extend along the face 11 of a coal mine. The operation of the hydraulic jacks of the roof supports are controlled by pilot valves which are electrically powered and rotationally driven. For example, motorized or cam operated pilot valves can be used. Such pilot valves use much less energy than valves controlled conventionally by solenoids, and the electricity supply can thus be at an intrinsically safe level.The operation of the pilot valves include unitary operation of a given support, remote operation of one support from another and sequential operation of a series of supports. When the system controls a plurality of supports sequentially, sensing means sensitive to a first pressure level in a first support when the first support is set to a mine roof activate another support in the sequence when the first pressure level has been sensed in the first support, while continuing the raising of the pressure in the first support until a second, higher pressure level is detected.A group of supports is controlled by a control station positioned at a face end, and in addition each support has its own individual control position.     • Castings are produced by sandwiching a central mould part 10 between two outer mould parts 36, 38 during the casting process. The central mould part 10 is then transfered sequentially from between the outer mould parts 36, 38 and subsequently re-located between the outer mould parts in a vacant, relatively cool, and dry condition for the production of a further casting. In one embodiment a plurality of central mould parts are transferred sequentially from the outer mould parts to a removal station 45, a quenching station 50, and a drying station 70, before being returned to the central mould parts.
