    • For transmitting data between a node (100) of a mobile network and a further node (200), the further node sends downlink data packets to the node (100) of the mobile network. The downlink data packets carry a destination address corresponding to a user equipment (10) connected to the mobile network. For implementing an inband data channel between the node (100) of the mobile network and the further node (200), the further node (200) inserts data destined to the node (100) of the mobile network into at least one of the downlink data packets and marks this downlink data packet as including data destined to the node (100) of the mobile network. The node (100) of the mobile network receives the downlink data packets from the further node (200) and identities, on the basis of the marking, the least one downlink data packet including data destined to the node (100) of the mobile network. The node (100) of the mobile network then extracts the data from the identified downlink data packet. A corresponding inband data channel may also be used in the uplink direction.

    • A method and system for forwarding information to a device in a communication network are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes selecting a serving node to which to send a request. The selected serving node is one of plurality of serving nodes, each of the plurality of serving nodes supporting a different access technology. The request is to transmit one of a short messaging service, SMS, message and trigger information. The request includes a list of the plurality of nodes. The method further includes sending the request to the selected serving node via a translation interface associated with the selected serving node. The translation interface is adapted to use a protocol that corresponds to the access technology of the selected serving node. If the selected serving node cannot reach the device, the request is forwarded to another serving node in the list of serving nodes in the request.

    • A method and apparatus for providing location information for subscribers connected to a packet-switched mobile access network in connection with emergency calls made over a multimedia service network. An emergency request is received at the multimedia service network from a subscriber containing the calling number of the subscriber. In response thereto, a media gateway control function in the multimedia service network sends a location query including the calling number to a mobile positioning center in the mobile access network, which then can retrieve location information for the subscriber. After receiving location information from the mobile positioning center, the media gateway control function selects an emergency center and sends a location indication for the subscriber thereto in a circuit-switched control message for initiating an emergency call, according to prevailing standards.
