The input member is continuously connected to the first member of the first gear set, and the output member is continuously connected to the first member of the second gear set. The first motor/generator is continuously connected to the second member of the first gear set. The second motor/generator is continuously connected with the third member of the first or second gear set. First and second torque transfer devices are positioned on one side of the transfer member, and the first and second gear sets are positioned on an opposite side of the transfer member.

摘要： A single range, electrically variable transmission (EVT) is provided with a lockup clutch that reduces motor power requirements. When applied, the lockup clutch allows engine torque to be transmitted directly to the output without the necessity of a motor/generator supplying reaction torque. With the lockup clutch applied, the transmission operates with zero electro-mechanical power flow at a fixed mechanical ratio, thus mitigating the power peak which occurs through the motor/generators. Input-split, output-split, and compound-split transmissions are disclosed. A method of operating an EVT with a lockup clutch is also provided.

摘要： A hybrid electromechanical transmission includes first, second and third planetary gear sets, an input member, an output member, and first and second motor generators. At least one of the gear members in the first planetary gear set is connected to the first motor/generator. At least one of the gear members in the third planetary gear set is connected to the second motor/generator. First and second interconnecting members continuously connect members of the first planetary gear set with members of the second planetary gear set. Five torque-transmitting mechanisms selectively interconnect members of the planetary gear sets with a stationary member or with other members of the planetary gear sets. One of the five torque-transmitting mechanisms is operative to selectively disconnect the second planetary gear set from the third planetary gear set so that the second motor/generator may drive the output member while disconnected from the first motor/generator and the input member.

摘要： A friction brake system in a vehicle has a spring apply force, a pressure release force and a solenoid release force. The solenoid release force is determined by the electrical dynamic brake capacity available at the vehicle powertrain. Under full braking conditions, when the electric dynamic brake absorption capacity is high, the solenoid release force is high and vice versa. The overall brake force requested is established by an operator input signal. The amount of dynamic braking, the amount of pressure release force and the amount of spring apply force are determined by the requested braking effort from the operator and the amount of dynamic braking that can be absorbed in an energy storage unit associated with the powertrain.

摘要： A hydraulic closed loop control for positioning a transmission shift rail and synchronizer fork has recesses on the rail and ports in a valve body in which the rail is disposed. Fluid flow between the ports as permitted by the rail recesses controls the position of valves which in turn control the position of the rail. The valves control the position of the rail by routing pressurized fluid to one of two opposing sides of a piston fixed to the rail in response to the flow of fluid from the valve body ports. The pressurized fluid moves the rail to a desired position with the flow of pressurized fluid being interrupted when that position is reached.
