    • A steel laminate gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine having at least one fluid hole and a plurality of bolt holes therein. The gasket basically comprises first and second plates for constituting the steel laminate gasket, and includes holes corresponding to the fluid hole and the bolt holes. A sealing device is formed around the fluid hole for sealing therearound when the gasket is tightened. At least one seal protecting member is integrally formed with the second plate. The seal protecting member extends from the second plate and is turned near the bolt hole to pile together with the first and second plates adjacent the sealing device. When the gasket is tightened, a part of the tightening pressure applied by the bolts is supported by the seal protecting member to thereby provide moderate tightening pressure to the sealing device.

    • A steel laminate gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder hole and at least one through hole. The gasket comprises a first plate, a second plate situated under the first plate and a third plate situated between the first and second plates. A first sealing device is formed on at least one of the first and second plates to seal around the cylinder hole of the engine. Also, a second sealing device is formed on at least one of the first, second and third plates to seal around the through hole. The third plate includes sealing layers on both sides thereof, and a hole so that the first sealing device is located therein when the gasket is assembled. Leakage around the cylinder hole and through hole is effectively prevented.

    • A gasket for an internal combustion engine comprises a main seal member formed of a plurality of steel plates stacked together, each steel plate having a plurality of openings corresponding to through holes of the engine and at least one communicating portion situated between the adjacent two openings for providing communication between the two openings, a sealing device having a plurality of cylindrical portions to be situated in the openings of the main seal member and at least one intermediate portion to be situated in the communicating portion of the main seal member, and a covering device for substantially covering the sealing device and securely connecting the same to the main seal member. The openings of the main seal member are slightly larger than the through holes of the engine. The cylindrical portions and intermediate portion are integrally formed together.

    • A steel laminate gasket designed to efficiently seal engine parts having high and non-high pressure areas. The gasket comprises a core plate extending throughout entire area of the engine to be sealed, at least one metal plate situated above the core plate, and at least one soft sheet situated above the core plate. The metal plate is placed adjacent to the high pressure areas of the engine so that the high pressure areas of the engine are sealed by the core plate and the metal plate. The soft sheet is made of a soft gasket material and is placed adjacent to the non-high pressure area so that the non-high pressure areas of the engine are sealed by the core plate and the soft sheet.

    • A gasket includes a plurality of metal plates laminated together, and having a plurality of through holes situated adjacent to each other, and seal structures each annularly surrounding each of the through holes. Each of the seal structures includes a first seal bead adjacent to one through hole and a second seal bead situated outside the first seal bead relative to the one through hole, a first seal portion located in a first area between adjacent two through holes, and a second seal portion located in a second area other than the first area. The first seal portion has an annular width narrowing as outside ends of the first seal portion come close to a center of the first seal portion by locating the second seal bead close to the first seal bead, and the second seal portion has an annular width constant in an annular circumferential direction.
