    • A color television receiver with luminance and chrominance signal channels includes an automatic kinescope beam current limiter, an automatic white level drive control network, and an automatic black level bias control network. A switching network is timed to operate such that a control signal developed by the beam current limiter is coupled to the luminance channel during normal picture intervals, but is decoupled from the luminance channel during both white level drive control intervals and black level bias control intervals. The beam limiter control signal is continuously coupled to the chrominance channel, independent of the operation of the switching network, to permit chrominance output bias offset errors produced by beam limiter action to be sensed and compensated for by the automatic bias control network.

    • Five color television cameras take pictures of an object. A video signal from the central camera is transmitted by circuitry substantially the same as the circuitry used in existing color television system. The video signal is subtracted from four video signals from the other cameras, two located on the left side of the central camera and the remaining two on the right side thereof, thus generating four video difference signals. A carrier wave is used of frequency 1/n (n is an integer) of the color sub-carrier frequency, and placed within the lower sideband of the reference frequency of an assigned channel. The spectrum distribution of the wave remains in interleaving relation with the spectrum distribution of a luminance signal from the central camera. The carrier wave is divided into two-phase carrier waves. Each of these carrier waves is divided into a positive halfwave and a negative halfwave. The resultant four halfwaves are amplitude-modulated by the four video difference signals, and the amplitude-modulated halfwaves are superposed one upon another, thus providing a composite wave. The composite wave is band-limited so that it does not exceed the bandwidth of the channel assigned and then transmitted. At the receiving side, five video signals are reproduced. Three electron beams corresponding to the three primary colors, are in synchronism with the five video signals, thereby to reproduce five pictures in stereoscopic relation on the focal plane of a lenticular lens screen.

    • Cathode ray tube adjusting apparatus in a color television receiver includes a matrix and amplifier circuit coupled to a chrominance signal source, selectively coupled by a "service-normal" switch to a luminance or reference signal source. The matrixing and amplifying circuit includes a control grid DC bias potential development circuit and a cathode DC bias potential adjusting circuit, and is coupled to a cathode ray tube. In the "service" switching position, the DC bias potential adjusting circuit is varied to provide the proper cut-off potential conditions for the cathode ray tube. In the "normal" switchingposition, chrominance and luminance signals are matrixed and luminance signal drive is adjusted to provide the proper color temperature appearing on a viewing screen of the cathode ray tube.

    • An improvement for effecting rapid warm-up of the thermionic cathode means in a color CRT display device utilizing a degaussing circuit including a temperature responsive resistive element in series with the primary winding of an inductive means. A direct operational relationship is established between the degaussing and cathode heater circuits by having the secondary winding of the inductor series coupled therein. Upon simultaneous activation of both circuits, through a common switching means, a transitory surge of current is supplied by the degaussing circuit to the heater circuit, via the common inductor, to effect an accelerated temperature response in the heater.
